One button for coin-1 and coin-2
« on: February 21, 2010, 07:55:33 am »
Hi guys

I am MAMEing an Electrocoin Goliath cab (don't worry I'm preserving as much as I can - didn't actually come with a Jamma board in it, just the interface). This cab has one coin slot. In keeping with tradition of making the "ambience" experience as real as possible I want to mount a Cherry microswitch behind the Coin Reject button to act as if a coin is being inserted when the button is pressed in (I understand the Bella's Arcade project is the de facto here - http://bellasarcade.blogspot.com/2008/01/coin-door-return-button-hack.html ).

I am using two U360's each with a wiring harness; each joystick will interface six play buttons, player start button and player coin button. My question is: can I wire up the one microswitch behind the Coin Reject button (as per Bellas Arcade) and wire it to both joystick wiring harnesses for Coin-1 and Coin-2? Will MAME pick up both key presses simultaneously and act like a coin has been inserted for both players and give each a credit? Or will it just get hopelessly confused and ignore both? If the latter, is there an elegant solution to this (somehow mounting two microswitches behind that button say)?

TIA you guys
Cheers

Just go in MAME TAB GENERAL and make COIN 1 and COIN 2  both #5. So when you insert a coin you trigger both (you get 2 credits).

I did this on mine. Its easier to do, and you only have to do it on the games that need seperate coin buttons (So you can have 4 ppl on one coin slot when playing simpsons, and you don't end up with 2 credits per coin in Rampage).
