Guess The Game... Haven't Got A Clue!

Well, I'm trying to find out what game something might be...

I have so little info but if anyone can suggest some likely options that would be great!

Vertical game...
Cocktail versions available (at least in the UK)
Due to this I'm guessing the age of the game would be somewhere around late 70's, early 80's
Controls used are 2 way joystick and one button per player
2 player game functionality
Has rockets in it/some kind of reference to rockets

Any suggestions people?

MAWS narrows it down to 218 results without using "rockets" since that produces no results.  You're going to have to give a bit more detail like genre/category.  Many of the 218 is clones, but you'd have to go through them yourself without any more help.

If this is a game to see who can guess the mystery game with the least amount of information, I'm in! But otherwise, geez. "space" shooters are one of the most popular arcade genres out there. What did the rocket do? Was it a weapon, the enemy or the player?

Haha... I had a feeling that I'd get this reaction... to be honest I can't provide you with anymore information than that... it's going on the little info I have on a cocktail table I may possibly buy... what was the search criteria you used to get those 218 results... I'd be willing to give it a shot by looking at the results and seeing if I can find any clues...

Go to MAWS and select "Deluxe Search" from the top.  I just added all the details you gave in the fields to the left (joy2way, 2p, vertical).  If you knew what type of game it was (gallery for such as Galaxian for instance), you could narrow it down even more.  This is of course assuming that it's in MAME.  There are games that are not included yet, so it's possible you won't find it...

...Many of the 218 is clones...

One nice feature is to limit to parents only ("resource type" -> parents).  Cuts the number down to 97 (73 if button=1).

Besides MAWS, there's romlister.  A little work setting it up, a little more "under the hood" search, but you can get more detailed searches than MAWS.  Romlister can do all the criteria as used above in MAWS, plus Romlister can search for cocktail games, but as sometimes only the clone did cocktail, you might let romlister return clones, too.

You say 2 player game functionality are you referring to 2 player alternating play or 2 player simultaneous?  If it's a 2 player simultaneous vertical cocktail game that would really narrow down the list.    I know there was a versions of space invaders like this.
