UNSUPPORTED CHD VERSION
« on: October 12, 2009, 07:48:07 pm »
hi guys ive been googling / searching for this problem for the last two days and cant find any solutions that are helping me out.

im trying to run gaunt12 gauntdl gauntdl24 and all of them i am getting the same problem so i dont think that its the chd files them selves.

i am getting "gauntl12.chd UNSUPPORTED CHD VERSION" when i try to run them through mame32 the newest version avaliable on mame32's page. any help would be awesome!

check MAWS

According to the notes
"0.133u1: Renamed (gauntl12) to (gauntleg12) and (gauntd24) to (gauntdl24). "

gauntl12 is no longer a CHD Filename. Maybe rename yours  to gauntleg12 and it might work.

Make sure that any files located in your "DIFF" folder are deleted.  If there is a version mismatch (old .diff files and newer .chd, for example) - you'll get that error.

I am also having this problem with area51.chd and area51mx.chd.

I am wanting them to run in MAME32 0.90u1 as all my other MAME roms work in that.

I have tried the Area 51 games in a couple of other MAME emulators, but most of my other roms don't work in them (which is why i'd like to stick to MAME32)

I have tried numerous ways to get these .chd files working including putting them in folders with the same name as the .zip rom, adding the .chd files to the .zip files and also just having the .chd files loose in the \roms directory. Having them in the \roms directory works fine for my other games where .chd files are needed (Killer Instinct 1 & 2 and Crypt Killer)

I don't know why these 2 games don't want to work in my version of MAME and I can only find the one location with these .chd files for download

I hope someone can help

I have a sep folder for CHDs (X:\MAME\CHDs) and I have the CHDs in a zip matching the correct name. I've no issues with any CHD games

so your paths are...

X:\MAME\Roms\area51.zip - which is just the normal rom? and...
X:\MAME\Roms\CHD\area51.zip - which is area51.chd but zipped?

what version of mame you using? I've switched to MAMEUI32 0.138 cus i've found a new site to get roms and they all work :)

...except Crypt Killer now says that the parent rom isn't the right one =/

close my path is
X:\MAME\ROMS\A-D\Area51.zip for the ROM
X:\MAME\ROMS\CHDs\Area51.zip for the CHD

I'll double check the specifics when I get home

I dunno if I'd get absolutely chinned for posting rom links. So I can't really say much.
I did manage to find a site where all the roms are working with the latest MAMEUI32. Except for Crypt Killer, until I stumbled across a spanish blog where the CHD was in 2 parts, lol.

Hello,

I've recently upgraded Mame for the 0.139 and some of the CHDs had to be repacked (CRC issues ...). They still run , but report Clrmamepro errors.

Try to do this:
chdman -upgrade <chd_name.zip> <chd_new_name.zip>

Then delete the existent and rename the new to the actual name.

That also checks if the chd is valid.
