« on: October 02, 2009, 05:01:18 pm »
Hey, guys. In Brazil we also enjoy arcade cabinets. Take a look at
some pictures of my cabinet, and also two videos describing the
building process.

Looks like you put alot of work into it.  It's kind of hard to follow in the videos, did you document it anywhere else as you were building with step by step pcitures?  Curious what all insides look like etc.  We love picutures on this forum! :D

I got a lot of inspiration from your video on youtube when I made my cabinet. I saw the video a while back but I never bookmarked it and I couldn't find it again. But your rotating monitor plan stuck with me and I ended up doing something very similar to what you did.
Farther down in the thread you can see the monitor bezel.

I still havnt bought a printed marquee.... so dont mind the temp paper marquee.
I just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration, your video is what finally made me start on my own project.

I just watched Part I. I'm impressed... you did a great job there. The video really shows the detail you put into this. You've inspired me to make a video of my last project, but I haven't taken anywhere near the number pf pics you did. Dunno if I have enough to make a video.

Two questions though... any reason you didn't go with proper T-Molding? You have the router there which would have made installing a breeze. Seemed like a lot of fiddly effort you went to there. But it still came out great though I have to say.

And what was that PCB thing you made from scratch? I've never seen anyone on these forums do anything like that before! Do tell what that was for please.  :applaud:

I'm glad you've finished your project, even more so if you got some
inspiration from my video.  ;)

Hello there. I didn't use a T-Molding because I didn't find a suitable
(20mm, blue) one, so I ended up using those tapes which gave a good
result.

Regarding the PCB: I'm sorry my first video hasn't got captions. The
PCB is used on the control panel to connect it to the PC using the LPT-
switch interface, as well as the PPjoy program that allows for 32
buttons for each player. You'll probably ask me why I haven't used I-
PAC, and that's for a simple enough reason: Brazil imposes a 60%
import tax, and when one takes into account shipping cost, VAT, and
reseller profit, it would cost about twice what I've spent, not to
mention international shipping takes a while. Hence I ended up using
LPT-switch, which cost me half the price of I-PAC. Of course I had to
do it from scratch but it was fun and a new experience.

I remember finding your videos on you-tube several months ago.
It helped me get the inspiration to build my own cab. Thanks.
Very nice cab by the way. It looks professionally built.
