Go to the doctor Daywane, quit smoking, walk a bit & don't be selfish to your family/friends.

I just turned 30 mid February but already had my first scare. On 04.14.09 I was rushed to the ER......found out I have an enlarged heart incapable of handling my high blood pressure. FYI that sucks ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- dude, I cant even drink ---smurfing--- redbull anymore.

Anyway when you are on your way out it will scare the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out of you, I too say "meh just let it happen" but when an episode hits it is frightening.

Hahaha @ Prom, that was a hell of a night of dancing, disco biscuits & a hotel hi rise with a hot tub downtown............ my gawd Daywane do you think her dad knew? Its been 9 years, her & I are still together so hopefully he is cool about it now.

FYI: I took Chantix to quit smoking.

It works, seriously...you cant fail with that stuff as it actually blocks brain receptors so try as you may to enjoy smoking you cant.

There are side effects, crazy dreams & sleep walking....I once had a dream where prince ordered a chocolate dipped cone from Dairy Queen but sang it like his song "ahhhhhhhh, Pu&%y controooool, awwwww" but it was "ahhhhhhhh, chooocolate diiiped cooone, awww". Then the dad from Family ties stole my stripper & smashed up my neon sign in a sand box....

My pants were in the backyard that morning.

But I dont smoke anymore.

My dad died of lung cancer a couple years ago.  Lightheadedness from oxygen deprivation was his first symptom.  Lung cancer is bad because the tumors can grow rather large before they start causing problems.  In his case the tumors had grown large and were starting to diminish his lung volume.  This of course starved his body of oxygen and created the symptoms described.

By the time the cancer was creating symptoms and therefore discovered, it was way beyond treatable.

I know another kid who also used Chantix, and was able to quit.   I recall him saying
it had some nasty side effects, but was well worth it.

Damn I hate ladders!!
My father in law shattered his ankle years ago on one, after fighting it for many years it cost him his right leg. just below the knee cap.

I have had a fear of them every since. I use them but my hart will beat a bit faster on em.

I was taking a 19 inch CRT monitor in the attic to day. I had it up on my left shoulder. I got half way up and I heard a crack. I jumped off !!
Ladder broke its right leg. 3 rungs up. I was on the fourth.
I was able to hang on the monitor and land on my feet.
scared this PISS out of me.
back is a bit tender but really it is nothing.

edit to add.
It is only a 8 foot ladder. I was only 4 feet up.
I can be such a wuss at times

I think I will build a small 4 ft by 4 ft deck and a set of 8 foot stairs going into Attic
to get into my attic you must go out side and to the back of the house..
My house used to be a store. Flat roof. Leaked very bad. owners before me had a Gable put on.   My attic is the old roof and Gable

I was talking to my younger brother today and his wife,
I had one of my coughing fits. My sister in laws first time seeing it,
I have been able to hide it for a long time. I no longer can hide it. When it comes it will happen, I have lost controll of it.
I wish some one could explain to me why I can not breath...
how can my hart be effecting my breathing? I can not inhale worth a darn.
all I want to do is ex hale.
to day I felt it coming. I half ass controlled it. I could fell the needles in my face and lips. I saw my brother jump out of his chair and tell me to sit down.
but it was like in a tunnel. All I could do was grab the char back and shake my head NO!.
he help hold me up till I regrouped. I never went out. I bet it was 1 or 2 min. before I could focus my eyes.
Then I told him sitting is worse. I can not fight it if I am sitting.  :dunno

I thought you were starting to go to the doctors about this Daywane.
Maybe you should start seeing them sooner, as it seems to be emergency now.
As much as I hate my family doctor, I'd still put up with his ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- if this started happening.
Something has to be done, and soon.
You gotta take care of yourself, man.

I am not dieing as I sit here.  :-[
this thread has been broken up in to 2 threads.
I posted about my house the other day.
It is in my name now.
all ever one else wanted to talk about was my health.
I did go to my Doctor, A VERY LONG visit.
BP was 170/90 maybe 175 over 90 ?
EKG fine
lungs fine.
Doc listend to my neck veins.... This was new to me.
I see a heart specialest on the 8TH.
after that I get thyroid checked , cloistral checked.
My Family Doc knows family history. He is almost certain its in the heart but he is handing me to DR Fulluji first.
He told me not to try and quit smoking yet.
after Dr Falluji ( Capital Cardiology) is done with me then he will ---smurfette--- at me.
That was his words.
I have never seen this Doc before. His name is Doctor Hamelton... I liked him.
He spent time with me. Talked to my wive over speaker phone, My mother, and My sister. I bet he spent 45 min with me.

I just hope for a few things.
1 on my stress test ... I hope there is a STONG mo fo there.
I went out to the barn today and grabbed 200 lbs bar bell. lifted it.
I am 220.lbs.
I did it but I was struggling to get it up.
1 time was good enough for me.

I am kind of split on this.
1/2 half of me is scared of this stress test.
What if I pass out.
1/2 is  maybe it would be a good thing. Their in Doctors office. then maybe some thing will show up.

I am also a bit nervous of this event monitor there talking about. :dunno

Sounds like congestive heart failure.

When the heart is not pumping enough blood, fluid that normally is carried away in the blood stream.  Since the heart isn't working at full capacity, the fluid cannot be normally removed.

When you have a coughing fit, do you cough anything up?

Do you have swelling of your legs or ankles?

That's the idea. Go about yourself as normal.
If they find something throughout your normal daily routine, then they can understand what is happening, or suggest things you can cut down, or cut out.
You gotta take care of yourself first.

When you have a coughing fit, do you cough anything up?
not when I pas out. On a normal cough I do

Do you have swelling of your legs or ankles?
yes

Monday Morning I went to bluegrass Hospital (was known as woodford co. hospital before)

I got to work. 7AM I could not breath very well. Face felt tingly and also legs.

I tried to work as normal but I just plain felt very strange. I went to a friend of mine, He is a ERT Member.
I asked Bobby to test my blood pressure and lets keep it discreet.
well.... after he tested it he looked at me and said sorry Dave This is no longer discreet. 209/107
away I was carted in company car. I had no choice in the matter it was company car or ambulance. Hospital is only 2 miles away from my work.
well 2 days and 1 night  on blood pressure pills and nitro patch I fill better than I have in a long time.
I go to the specialest tomarrow.
cloistral level is great. Lungs are fine., Hart seems to be fine
The heavy pressure on the chest keeps the docs scratching there heads.
so far everything is pointing to High blood pressure. But all doctors I have seen want a heart specialest to have his way with me first.
I do have prescriptins for High blood pressure and also for nitro pill

Well too bad you already went to the doctor. I was really wanting to tell you to stop bitching and moaning and GO! My coworker whined about getting his stress test and halter monitor. Turns out he had a major blockage and needed immediate bypass surgery - he was a ticking time bomb. Sure it put him down for a few months, but now he will easily outlive his father, who died in his early 50's.

Coughing causing you to pass out is a quite common reaction.   The problem is the coughing and shortness of breath.   Heart and lungs are always related as the blood for your lungs is pumped by your heart and without your lungs functioning properly you cannot supply oxygen to your heart.

I have never smoked but have cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart therefore not as efficient) I have coughed to the point of passing out due to a combination of the poor heart circulation and asthma.   You need to get to the root of your problems by seeing a specialist.  But remember a heart specialist always seems to find heart problems and and and pulmanary specialist seems to find lung problems.   You need someone who can look at both sides of the problem.

Please stop smoking.

That should be enough for you guys to lay off a tad. YES he needs to stop smoking and drinking, but if he's being told by his doctor to not go cold turkey I'd pay that a little attention. The stress of nicotine and alcohol withdrawal would probably hurt him more than continuing the smoking and drinking for a few more days.

Like I said, I agree that he needs to stop, but only when it would be best for him.

Of course, I'm not a doctor. Just my two cents...

Maybe you're hypoglycemic.

Your lifestyle and symptoms sound a lot like Paul Blart's.

Hypoglycemics don't fake passing out. Their blood glucose levels get screwed up causing them to pass out. I don't see where anyone thinks you're faking...

I catch myself doing all the above.
one thing I have never mentioned. (it was in the definition)
I catch myself.lost in a train of thought. Very often, I will focus on a blade of grass or a bottle cap and freeze on it. some one will ask me if you are OK. this snaps me out of it. yep I say "I was just thinking." but to be honest I was lost in my train of thought

Hypochondria isn't "faking it".  It's where you believe you're sick when you're not, or where you read BIG problems out of small things.

This doesn't apply to you.

No worries. My post was suppose to be a joke(insult).

I saw the movie the night before but didn't actually think it could be your problem.  I just wanted to indirectly call you fat.
...so your first response was more than called for. ;)

I don’t think it's hypochondria, it could be stress caused a combination of things triggering it not just one ailment.  Getting your high blood pressure under control would be a good start.

I can understand your paranoia about people calling you a hypochondriac.  My dad was complaining about headaches and chest pains the week after he retired.  He saw a few doctors and none of them could find anything wrong with him.  They said he had the arteries and the heart of a 20 year old.  Everyone assumed it was something mental caused by him not knowing what to do now that he's retired.  It took a trip the emergency a year later to find that it was a combination of acid reflux and a hy-something-or-other-hernia.  He's now eating right, on the right meds and enjoying his retirement.

Ignore the idiots that are telling you this is all in your head.  It's easy for them to say, because it's not happening to them.

Don't forget that most doctors tend to just match prescriptions with symptoms.  Most are not really good at getting to the root of an illness.  It can be tiresome finding a physician that will identify an ailment that isn't completely obvious.  You are already aware of this.  Don't give up.

Q: What do you call someone who made all C's in med school?
A: Doctor.

So they said everything looks fine with your heart. Great!
Now, go get blood tests, and then move on to brain scans or whatever they suggest next.

Something is wrong with you dude. Get it diagnosed. People just don't randomly pass out on the shitter. That's bad. See: Elvis.
