Looking for a new 27" monitor. Help please.

So I'm finally getting a new arcade monitor. I want to get a 27" and some google searches leads me to the Wells Gardner at X-Gaming. I've read the thread here about staying clear of them. Can someone give me some other links to quality monitors? I've also seen the Neiman Displays site, but didn't see anywhere that had a price or an order page (maybe I'm missing it.) I'd really like something that's going to last, so I figured I'd seek advice from the great minds here. Thanks for taking the time to help.

j5, if you notice, that thread on WGs had to do with 9200s. Apparently several people here have been doing well with the newer 9400s (now discontinued, I think because they're no longer doing curved tubes), and the 9800s (the flat tube version). The question is, do you want a digital multisync? To help answer that, I suggest reading the monitor wiki.

im sorry ummon, but ive been searching for a place that will just give me the pros and cons that go along with using a analog or digital monitor but I cant seem to find one. I looked through the wiki but maybe im just looking in the wrong place. Are Digital monitors more like lcd's where the picture will be more blocky? What is the disadvantage to the screen being flat? Ive searched and searched but I still dont understand. The thread is probably right underneath my nose but I just cant find it. Thanks and sorry for asking a very simple question.

Didn't really see anything in that thread about the difference between an analog/digital multisync CRTs.

The difference is that a digital multisync has on screen adjustments (just like your PC's monitor) and will store your screen size/geometry settings in memory.   With an analog monitor, you have to manually adjust pots/knobs every time you change resolutions (the screen sized gets totally borked each time you switch).  Now for an arcade monitor out on location that's sitting at the same resolution all day every day, digital is a pretty useless feature.  But for emulation, where you are bouncing around between games of various different resolutions (not to mention the desktop/frontend) it's critical. There is no difference in the picture, just in the management of settings.

Actually, I think all that is in the wiki.  And, one can get away with a lot with an analog monitor, though without some serious sacrifice 224x288 games won't be playable.

I bought my Wells Gardner D9800 from Xgaming and have been very happy with it.  I've had it for about 2 months now and I love the way it makes the games look.  It really takes me back to the days of growing up in the arcade.  I can almost smell the pizza sometimes...

I just ordered my own D9800 from Xgaming and should have it within a few days...can't wait to see it in my cab...im hoping for great things.

We have 1 main arcade left here in Vancouver, BC and walking in and hearing the familiar sounds, the first thing you notice are the monitor screens...going in there I just wasn't able to look at the TV in my mame cab the same way again.
