Point Blank in MAME
« on: March 19, 2008, 05:55:15 pm »
Anyone know how to change the number of lives you get in Point Blank in MAME? By default you only get 1 and it's a pain when all the others in the series (Point Blank 2, Zero Point 1+2) give you three. I know most versions I play in the arcades give you three so there must be a way to change it, but you can't do it with the dip switches in MAME.

Anyone? ???

Does it have a service menu toggle?

I've lost it again, so I'm resurrecting this thread. Anyone know how to do this?

No, for some reason F2 does not access anything in this game. You can access the dip settings but all the dip does is open a test screen (test buttons, coin counter). In Point Blank 2 you press F2 to call up the full config menu where you can set coinage and free play as well as lives.

I've found this once before so why can'rt I find it again?!!!

Can't anyone out there running light guns (or not), just quickly boot this game and press everything they can think of? I've tried to no avail.

Once you get into Service Mode, you use the '9' key (in most games, this is the service key) to jump to the next adjustment/test screen.  "1" (1P Start) is used to select an item to change on that screen while "2" (2P Start) will allow you to change that item you've selected.

Any idea how to get point blank to save high scores ?

I think its something to do with the "Initialize highscores" setting in the service menu set to "no", Ive tried changing it to yes but it doesn't stick.

Are you using a 'highscore patched' version of MAME?

Yes, everything else saves the scores fine.
