Help! old DOS game...
« on: October 31, 2007, 05:13:15 pm »
I'm looking for an old dos game that had no title.  It was a single file called "ninja.exe".

In it you were a black ninja fighting other ninjas and dropping through the "floor" (which was a black line with a break in it), down to the bottom of the screen.  From there you could keep dropping through to new screens where it got harder and harder.

Anyone remember this or know where I can get my hands on a copy?  it was probably only 150-200k.  =)

I think you may be talking about Karateka.  I seem to remember the game progressing to a point where you fall through the floor to get to the next level.  Does this look familiar?

There's a game within the DOS collection labeled "Ninja (1986)(Mastertronic)" it has a "ninja.exe" and may be what your looking for.

Try googleing "ninja mastertronic"

Yeah....  it's definitely not karateka.  =)

It is also not the mastertronic ninja either, I've seen that while looking.

I've had very little luck with any avenue I've checked on the net for this...  I'll let you guys know if I find it.

Thanks for the suggestions, and feel free to give any more if there are any.  =)

I had this game when it was new.  I spent about 1-2 hours a day, playing it over and over, for at least an entire year.  So awesome.

I don't know, but the description sounds closer to the old Bruce Lee game.
Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!

Nope, not bruce lee either.

It was a game that fit on a 5 1/4" floppy with room to spare.  Probably coded in assembly or something, like 200k or so.  No title screen, no nothing -- just fire it up and instant action.

Your literally looking for a needle in a haystack. If you give a year it may help looking for it. There are 327 titles with the ninja.exe file in them.

Bushido rocked!  =)

The year I was playing it was probably 1990ish.

psik0tik, where are you getting that number from?

I played shogun as well.  I forget what the purpose was, but you could pick up objects, get followers, etc.  Some of my friends and I sort of figured it out but we never did quite understand everything.  I'd forgotten about that game entirely.  =)

I remember playing Bouncig Babies for the XT. Tried playing that when 486 System was NEW, and it was very fast...and had a proggie called SLOW (it slows down the CPU to a XT level) and then i could play it again. Now I have a 5150 System with some of the old pc game including my faV "bOUNCING bABIES".....

Heh, I played that too, though I never used a slowdown program.  The machine I was using at the time had a switch that was either 8 Mhz or 12 Mhz.  0.o
