As the title says. Something changed with MAME32 version 0.108 and doesn't work in 0.109 either - here's what now happens:
Selecting P1 button will register the gun shot (input) - shows up as Mouse 0
Attempting to calibrate the Analog X and Y axis won't acknowledge the input. Nothing.

Going back to 0.107U1 the guns work again.

Yes of course Windows has recognized these this entire time but Mame refuses to work correctly.

Anyone have some advice for me?

Thanks.

huh?

You don't calibrate lightguns via mame, you calibrate them via using the "calibrate" switch setting on the side of the gun.  It sounds to me like you are confused as to how you setup guns in mame.  You make a ctrlr file and set the axis to "mousecode_0_x" or whatever for each axis.  You can't set the axes within mame because lightguns don't "move" until you shoot, in which case the button would be binded to the axis anyway.  If you are only using one lightgun, then I might suggest setting the new -multimouse flag to 0 which merges all mice axis and thus the games will already be mapped.

MAME32 is being used not MAME.
OK the word calibrate is the wrong word (calibration is done outside of MAME32's config but here's what I meant.
Look at this tutorial which HAS to be done in order for games to work with the guns. This doesn't work anymore which I stated broke sometime on 0.108. If I'm doing something wrong then tell me. I've had these guns dor two years and they have worked flawlessly. It's certainly not that I don't know how to set them up. I am guessing the code has changed that either causes these not to work anymore or I don't know the new way of setting them up.

I have used a clean 0.108 and clean 0.109 install and neither of them work. Something has been changed that has caused this issue.  Look at any version prior to 0.108 of MAME32 (choose a game that requires a laser gun) and even the wording of the devices is different.

As I also stated earlier that I am unable to get the Lightgun X and Y analog to register ANYTHING which is the whole problem.

My ACT LABS works in MAME 119 now!

I was moving the gun while trying to assign the trigger to Button 1

Simply keeping the gun from moving while pressing the trigger did the trick.

That absolutely worked. My first thought was, "I don;t have those crappy old guns that only worked withows 98 surely this isn't going to work."
Glad I was wrong heh heh.

Thank everyone for their help here. I was starting to wonder if I was the only one with this issue but using 107 would work so I knew it had to be something with MAME32 just didn't know what. Thanks again.
