I am starting a new Mame arcade machine. It will be a close replica of my last project "The Rage". ( http://skennys-arcade.blogspot.com/ )

This machine will be my fourth project, and will be built for my brother's step-son, Clint.
It doesnt have a name yet. (Clint's Arcade?? hmmm, maybe, but something more unique would be nice, Im open for suggestions at this point.)

I have started a bog on it:
http://skennys-arcade2.blogspot.com/

I have a question:
Is it better to document my progress along with pictures, in this forum? Or will just a update notice be OK, with a link to the blog?
Thanks, and wish me luck!

When posting about my project, I was asked to provide pictures and documentation here, on the forums.  I'm doing both - forum and blog posting.  When you're finished, you should submit your blog/website as an Example Project.

No title suggestion, but definitely good luck on it... I'm sure your friend's stepson is going to enjoy it.

I do both as well.  I post everything (and I mean everything) here and ask questions and stuff but on the blog I just post pics and a description of how I did what I did.  I really try to make it so somone can replicate my build if they wanted to.  Also, I noticed you get way less feedback here if you just post "I updated my blog" and then provide a link.  People are lazy and want everything here (myself included).

I rarely launch to other sites unless there is a very compelling reason.  Also, they say a picture is worth a thousand words.  I tend to go long on my write-ups, but suspect others do as I do; look at the pictures first, if interested, read the text.  I will rarely read a long block of text if no pictures are attached.

Alrighty, thanks!!  ;D
Here's my first picture(s).
These are the plans. I am using the same plans I drew up for The Rage.
It's going to pretty much be a copy of The Rage, but since I didnt document that project from the start I thought I would attempt to do better on this one.
Again, thanks for the opinions, and another question:
Whats your favorite keyboard encoder. (I have already bought a keywiz eco2, so it's just a matter of wanting to know favorites here.)

Well, theres really nothing to talk about as far as my project.

I just got home from a 3 day trip to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Spent much dough at King's Island.
Let me tell you, the newest roller coaster, "Fire Hawk", is simply fantastic.
If you get the chance, I highly recommend you try it..
Just wanted to share that tid bit with everyone...
Now back to the Arcade!!!!!

Ok, after several months i can honestly say that this project is done. (Until we can think of something else to add to it LOL).
Clint decided on a name: "Clint's Bada Bing Club"
I did not keep a promise I made to myself on this project. I didnt take many pictures at all.
Its just hard for me to take pictures amid all the dust, and the tools and wood in the way.
But I basically followed the same layout I did on The Rage.
We did have to mount the monitor differently, because this monitor had the buttons sticking out farther than the screen, so we took the monitor out of its case and mounted it like this:

I Think mounting it this way is a lot easier anyway. Just dont have a warm fuzzy feeling about the electronics being exposed if someone removes the back.
The Marquee was different from The Rage also:

I need to find someone that can print out the marquee in a banner type paper. the lines between the sheets look like crap.

The control panel is the same as The Rage, just minus the arcade characters:

Specs:
19" computer monitor.
933 MHZ pentium 3 with 256 meg ram.
Standard two player controls with 3" translucent red happ trackball.
Standard 2 slot coin door with hidden cheat buttons.
GLaunch frontend.
Menumaker for Glaunch.
The Launcher launching/shutdown program.
Keywiz eco2 encoder.
Keywiz uploader2.
Mame V107.
Mame32
Wincab jukebox.
Used 3/4" MDF with MDF frame pieces.
2 coats primer. 2 coats flat black paint.
0.080 plexi over CP, monitor, and marquee.
Forced air cooling with dust filter.
Internal (inside the cab) surge protected power strip and switched power strip.
Thats all I can think of right now.

I use my local Kinko's.  They can print on thin opaque plastic made for back-lit applications, charge $15 and can turn it around in about 4 hours.

Thanks Coder, there is one in the town about 30 miles away, maybe I will get a chance to check them out soon. I also have a marquee for my first project I need to print out.
Here are some more pics:
