  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
This has happened twice in two days. I'll be playing a game in mame ( both times they were 8 way stick + 2 button games) and all of the sudden my screen goes black and the monitor rotation flips itself  upside down or sideways.  :hissy: :hissy: :hissy::

This isn't just within mame its also within windows after exiting mame.
I'm wandering if its possibly an i pac issue or if maybe my graphics card is on its way out. Any ideas ?      ??? ??? ???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks  :)

    • Thenasty's Arcademania Horizontal/Vertical monitor setup.
doubt very much its the IPAC (unless you have a key combo to rotate your screen) its just like a Keyboard.
Try using a different monitor, then go for the Video card.

thanks,  I also doubt its the i pac. Unfortunately i don't have another monitor to try but i did think of something else to try.

I went into the video card settings and unchecked the box for enable rotation and turned off hot keys maybe I'll get lucky and that will fix it.

thanks, Ron

sounds like you might be triggering a hotkey combo for the video card.  You will need to get into the settings and turn it off or change the key mappings in MAME.  Often these hotkey combos use the ctrl or alt key (buttons 1 & 2 in MAME) in combination with the arrow keys (joystick).  You may also be able to remap the hotkey combo, depends on the video card driver.

Hiya, if you have the same on-board video card as me- check on the bottom right on the windows taskbar. There might be a blue monitor icon. Click on it and change the display properties, and uncheck enable rotation- the same thing happened to me mid game. Once its unchecked you shouldn't be able to change it again... good luck
