First timer needs some opinions

Well since I am going to build my own cab, i figured i'd do everything myself, including all the artwork.

I am thinking of going with a Thundercats theme and wanted to practice vectorizing (sp?) on my own. These are my first attempts. Just low, 72 PPI, res jpgs of what I did in Illustrator.

Can anyone give me some advice or a critique of what I did? I literally just used Illustrator for the first time after reading Frostillicus' tutorial and don't really know the ins and outs of the program.

I don't have any reference, but as I see it, it looks good.

I started out with that tutorial too. It's great to start with, but pratice makes perfect!

You dont need it, all you need is the FONT which I have attached and whilst in Adobe Illustrator type the characters that make up the ThunderCats logo and convert to shape and then scale to fit your marquee, CPO etc etc....

He didnt vector it at all......

I din't know about the fonts. That's awesome!! Now I can put more than just "Thundercats" in my artwork.

Actually I did vector both of those as a practice since I'd never done that before and I am thinking about a thundercats theme.

Just because you have AI files doesnt mean you vectored it.

All you have to do is install the font and type in AI and create the Logo.

If you use my font you will see that it creates PERFECTLY the same logo.....

Ad_Enuff, obviously you have something against me. Maybe I am using the term "vectorizing" wrong. I found jpgs on line and used that pen tool in Illustrator to trace them so I could enlarge them without the pixelation effect. I just wanted to know if I was doing something obviously wrong on some pieces I was practicing on. I know there are a ton of easier ways to do what I am doing, but I don't know how to do them.

I have no idea what a .png file is, but AI lets me export them as .png so here they are.

cool, lookin good, whether you vectored yourself or used the font! although ill give ya credit if you did the vectoring yourself, that woulda been a pain in the ace

The logo is is found in the font "ThunderCAPS" not "ThunderCats"...

most of that is just done in the layer blending options
makes it super easy to tweak

i used:
gradient overlay
color overlay
stroke
and glow
