super noob software question
« on: October 08, 2006, 03:39:44 pm »
hey every body..
I have decided to take an old romstar cab and turn it into a mame cab.
My question is which frontend to use.  I've read a few polls on this forum, but i'm still unsure.
The three main games i want to start with are ultimate mortal kombat3, tetris, and sega's bio hazzard.
Is there one front end to run the games? Or am i going to have to use more than one?
My project arcade book is on the way, does it go into detail about software?

Thanks for your info..

all or any FE will work. As far as what FE, its all up to you. Its all a personal choice. Some will say, Advmenu, MameWah, GameLauncher, ArcadeOS, AtomicFE, PArtyOn etc.....

I myself tried many FE and I ended up using Advmenu. Your taste migh differ from mine, so check out the FORUM on top about all FE available and give some a try.

I always wanted to be the guy that got to this first.  Check out the wiki, it has a ton of information on each front end. In my experience the easiest to use are GameEx, Mala, Mamewah, AtomicFE.  All good, toy with a few, see what fits your style. Most are skinnable so you can knock yourself out on the design.
