Call Cingular and get the subsity code.. Unless you know what your doing, youll end up bricking your phone.

When Cingular asks "WHY" you need it unlocked, just tell them your going on vacation out of the country and you need to use it on another network while your there.. FYI, the rep WILL say "we dont do that" you say "yes you do, motorola told me to call you"

I did that with 3 of my CellPhones. A Treo600 and 2 Samsung T-mobile phones. I just told that I want my phones Unlock and gave it to me.
Just call your phone provider (Cingular).

Tools needed


1) Smart-Clip -> Obviously a clip with lastest firmware being the 2.20.


2) SmartMoto -> Software that works in conjunction with the Smart-Clip with latest version being the 1.12.

Process


Step 1 Connect the LPT Port of the S.Clip to the LPT1 PC Port, attach the external powersupply or a 9volt battery, launch Smart Moto and finally connect the V3(must be powered on) to the usb port of the S.Clip by using the original stock V3 cable or the cable furnished with the S.Clip.

Step 2 In phone connections make sure that the Smart-Clip USB Port is selected and press [Search], Smart Moto will start to validate the S.Clip and then give you a complete readout of the attached Phone(a V3 in this case) as the above picture shows.


Step 3 Make sure that the V3 is selected(in this case it's with B.Loader 8.26) and press [Remove RSA] once the procedure starts Smart Moto will make up a backup of the Security Area in automatic and complete the operation in about 60sec.

Step 4 We're almost done now, just shutdown Smart Moto and reset the S.Clip by removing and reapplying the Power supply, reconnect the V3(powered on) to the S.Clip and press the Unlock Button on top of the S.Clip which will automatically boot the V3 into bootmode, the green led will start to blink and once completed you'll see a steady green led, the V3 will automatically reboot again into normal mode and you'll have a V3 100% Unlocked with B.Loader 7.D0....

Security Zone Repairing [Repair PDS]


Comment I surely believe that at one point in life all of us had a dead Motorola(V3 in this case) and that there was nothing that we could of done because the security area was damaged for one reason or another well...

Step 1 Connect the LPT Port of the S.Clip to the LPT1 PC Port, attach the external powersupply or a 9volt battery, launch Smart Moto then -STOP EVERYTHING- Now start RSD and connect the V3 to the PC usb port as usual(traditional flashing) you must now try to start the V3 with the + # ON method and if needed by also removing and reinserting the battery 9(just a question of good timing) once RSD picks up the phone -STOP EVERYTHING- shutdown RSD and insert the usb cable form the PC port to the S.Clip port and press [Search] it will find a device(make sure that the V3 is ticked) so now with the internet connection active press [Repair PSD] and after a few moments it will rewrite the Security Level and you'll have the new B.Loader 7.D0, the thing that I discovered is that you don't have to tick the Switch to 'Flash' tab on success under the Repair option window(since I'm old fashioned) thus avoiding to use Smart Moto's special V3 repair file(at least with the V3) just start RSD again and flash it with a normal full flash firmware and ignore the warning that RSD gives you about flashing the phone with an unknown blah blah(remember that the V3 is in a totally erased state) so it's normal just press ok(continue) and enjoy your reborn V3.

Overtime

Personal Observations By unlocking and/or repairing the PDS on your V3 as I already stated above many times you'll have bootloader 7.D0 on your V3, why did mention this again? The answer is simple because when you manually bootup the phone you won't see the bootloader screen anymore and it kinda makes me nervous so all you have to do is flash it back with MotoX's bootloader 8.26 Upgrade to get it all working again but remember that the V3 will remain unlocked but it will be RSA protected again.

I havent, on Motox theres been a few pages or so of people who used it and had no problems..

Personally, i dont buy locked phones, and when i need a phone unlocked i just put it on my cell plan for a month (just tell them im using it as my main and give them the info) then get the unlock code directly from them.. If i need a tmoblie phone unlocked, i use the same process with my GFs line

If I have an old cell phone that I don't use, I can bring it to another country and use it there?

It works with calling cards right?  I wouldn't want to pay for service for just two weeks.

How much does that cost?  Would it be cheaper/easier to buy disposable cell phone?

Wife's phone broke last week, she is back on a razor....I was surprised at how well made that phone feels still through today's standards.

We bought her a used iphone 3gs from ebay to hold her over, but found out it wasn't factory unlocked as advertised...still an AT&T phone, and new enough model that I can't hacktivate it. 


Does anyone out there have AT&T and be willing to fill out the online unlock request form for my wife's phone? I would be eternally grateful. AT&T will only unlock phones for subscribers.
