Great story! I love it when people make the effort to argue their case. I was involved in a sort of similar incident once. It wasn't speeding, I had a court-appointed lawyer who kept telling me to just plead guilty and take the fine. I was literally arguing with this guy as we waited in court, but I stood up in front of the judge and respectfully said my piece. He knocked the charge down and fined me only court costs (about $57).
But I do agree with one person's response to this story. I think 7 out of 10 judges will say, "The police officer is trained in identifying and clocking speeders. If he said it was you, I believe him. Guilty as charged."
I would feel better about going to court and losing instead of not going and losing by default. But then again, I'm assuming this guy was innocent. If I really was speeding I doubt I'd put up this kind of fight just to beat it.
