There are lots of reasons Bush beat Kerry.  Lots. Kerry didn't have the real support of his base because they were fragmented over Iraq.  Kerry wasn't a people kinda guy. Bush is. Bush had the confidence of the people to lead the US.  Kerry had no real answers and pointed people to his "website" for details.

The right rallied behind the most "right" candidate, Bush.  Not everybody on the left agrees with everybody on the left.  Do you agree with all Joe Liberman?  Do you agree with Barbra Striestand?  The communist party backed Kerry. 

What's pathetic is your attitude and the way you want to twist reality to suit your ideology.  Pat Robertson is just one guy.  He's an old man.  He has said a lot of stupid crap, and I don't have the time to listen to his utterances.  I only hear people on the left harp about it, everybody I know on the right say he was stupid, but I don't know everybody, that's for sure.

I used to work with the elderly when I was a teenager, volunteering at the rest home of a private hospital.  This was probably about 1991.  There were a few very elderly women who took the 700 Club very seriously.  They would get their social security checks and try to send the whole damn thing to those people.  Their families would have to intervene and authorize the nurses to monitor their outgoing mail to prevent them from sending most of their income.  It was predatory in nature, very disturbing.

1) Uh, no it doesn't. It means I'm going to have to accept a certain level of "suckage" because the GOP is currently in control of the House, Senate, Judiciary, and Executive branches of our government. They control the government, they influence policy, they give credence to those I oppose, and they vindicate, through their rhetoric, behavior I find deplorable.

2) It means I can fight that "suckage" at every turn in a multitude of ways, which I current DO. It means I can oppose their policies, point our their hypocrisy, work to influence their constituency, and support policies I agree with.

1) My statement IN NO WAY implies that I am magically waiting for things to swing my way. That is simply how you choose to read into it. What it DOES imply is that the GOP will MAKE IT EASIER for me to fight them, if they continue to destroy themselves from the inside out.
2) Stop living in such a black & white world, where two subesquent actions can not take place in tandem to each other.
3) Finally, yes, your statement is a WILD ACCUSATION, especially given the fact that I am currently very politically active - spending a great deal of my time and money fighting for causes I believe in, while working (simultaneously) in an effort to hold the GOP accountable for the horrid actions and failed policies they are directly responsible for.

Actually, Dartful, I don't think I do get it.  Maybe you can help.  Hitler and the Nazi party were economically moderate and socially about as conservative right-wing as a social group has ever been.  I'm pretty sure it is their social policies that have everybody up in arms.  So here are the logical interpretations I see:

1- You are using "Illinazi" as a compliment to the state and are proud of it.

2- You are so simple-minded that you think that anything that you personally consider bad must be similar to Nazi Germany.  When your steak comes back medium when you ordered rare you say, "The cooks and servers here are just like Nazis."

3- You know very little about anything and interpreting any of the various things you say implies meaning where there is none.
