Somebody slap this guy
« on: August 04, 2005, 09:02:20 am »

I've been looking for a Laser Cue backglass for quite some time for a machine I'm about to restore... but $100 to ship?!

Moron.

And that's $100 via UPS Ground. Estimated packing cost: $15. Estimated shipping cost: $15. Estimated profit off of shipping: $70.

It's like those idiots on Ebay that will sell you a movie for $1 but then they'll charge you $15 for shipping. What's the point?  :P

I also like how you can buy insurance for $10.  Nevermind you already get the first $100 of insurance included with ups for free.

Have you noticed in the "AVOID THIS SELLER" threads that the fraudsters only take money order or checks...?

The reason why they do this is so that ebay doesn't get their greedy little hands on their money.

If they sell the dvd for $1 and charge $15 shipping then the final auction amount is $1.

Personally I hate the people who buy an auction lilke that and then leave negative feedback when it arrives and it only cost $2 to ship.  READ THE AUCTION AND DON'T BID IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE TERMS.

Sorry for the little rant at the end.   :-[

I realize why they do it. I just don't like it. It messes with my whole concept of the way a purchase should work. I'm fine with it if it comes out being a deal anyway, but if they're gouging you in the shipping then that's not cool. I mean, if you're going to sell me something for cheap, at least give it to me for cheap. With that sort of price hike in shipping, I feel like I'm being lied to.

I've basically abandoned Ebay because of this.  Years ago it was a great place to find stuff of interest, but now I only buy arcade items on Ebay that are close enough to pick up.
Please!  Give me the good news first!

check out orangecountygames auctions. they charge a $25 pick up fee on games. how the hell can they justify charging you $25 for them opening the back door for you so you can load up your own game?

Sometimes sellers will have a very high shipping price to dissuade people from shipping an item.  Of course, they could just put "will not ship, local pickup *ONLY*" in their auction, but there are still people that don't read that fine print.  They often will note high shipping in cases like this, however, and avoid the auction.

It's worth it for, say, a NOS backglass of that age or older.  Not for a used one with flaking on it, though.

; ;)just purchased a pac neon sign on ebay for $.99 shipping was only $29.50 but sign is nice, new , and worth $30.00 - my daughter loves it (i.e. read carefully when on ebay and read seller feedback) 2 more things i purchased  some ms. pac chips from a guy in canada and only took bid pay or int. M.O. both cost at least $3.00 (and bidpay doesn't take M.C. but does take visa?). he emailed back said he would take pay pal if i paid the 6% fee -cost me $.92 - i gave him a dollar! against pay pal rules but if it saves us both money who cares - (2) own auto repair shop -got charged back $750.00 on a job i did 5 months earlier - gave money back to the customer and said if i didn't reply in 10 days i loose - received notice in the mail with 2 days to go - replied, got my money back, but it took 2hrs of my time!  SELLERS BEWARE OF ACCEPTING ANY CREDIT CARDS - NOT WORTH IT - TOUREST YOU GET TO PAY BY CASH ONLY NOW. bob - a-1 auto repair , mammoth lakes,ca. (ski resort)

I bought one of those neon signs, a Duff Beer.  It broke after about a month.  Good luck.

Trout is more insulting than perch.  A rainbow trout is more insulting than a regular trout.

How about a catfish? It's a slimey bottom-feeder with spines in its fins that will pierce just about anything.

P.S. Ever smell catfish bait?  :P

At our hotel we have at 5 or 10 people A MONTH who chargeback their hotel rooms claiming they never stayed here.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.
