Yeah I dunno what the go is there.....

Lately I keep getting time outs and pages are stalling all the time. I locked the other thread but it's to late now as I have clearly made a tool of myself.

Maybe my computer has a cold also.

Surely science should be able to turn this into something useful. It's sticky, it's warm and you can make animal shapes out of it.....

There should a thousand uses for this type of material.

All a cold is is your bodies reaction to fighting the virus.  It's kind of like a major allergic reaction.  That's why they make cold remedies with antihistamines.

If you're not sensitive to ibuprofin, take a massive dose of it (along the lines of 1,000MG).  Every two hours, take another 200MG tablet.  And of course, drink *lots* of water.

Ibuprofin is an antiinflamitory, and should knock out your symptoms in no time flat.  You're still sick - your body is still fighting the infection, so you'll still have to take it easy - but you'll feel fine after the medicine kicks in.

Just don't overdo it (ie anything physical) and make sure you stop taking it after like a couple days.

and keep at it with the green tea. My grandmother has leukemia, but takes green tea pills. They keep her white counts down. As for the cold, Ibuprofen is the best. Don't even bother with Acetominophin, Tylenol. Unless you cant take Aspirin or Ibuprofen, dont take it.

If it wasn't for colds, then what would we use as an excuse to get out of school or work? "I have a cold" is the perfect excuse because
1. It doesn't sound too bad
2. It doesn't sound too weak
3. It likes to spread from one person to another

Don't even bother with Acetominophin (Tylenol).

Of course not.  It doesn't have any anti-inflamitory capability that I'm aware of.  It's got to be ibuprofin.

Call me stupid, but I don't take drugs for sickness. Occasionally I will pop a paracetamol if I have a temperature, but I stay away from the rest.

I haven't researched this recently but believe I read it a few years ago.... Apparently humans were free from colds and viruses until we as a species domesticated animals. I mention this for no other reason other than if it is true, it is quite interesting.

Population exploded and travel became MUCH easier at the SAME TIME we domesticated animals. Thus allowing viruses to freely travel the worlds population instead of being trapped and dying off in small isolated populations. We might not die a whole lot from viruses anymore, but we get a WHOLE LOT MORE of them than people did in the past.

So I went to the doctor today because I just can't takes it no mores.

You know what Einstein says? "You have a cold, get some rest." He prescribed nothing.

Now I know why I dislike doctors.  I dunno what I expected but a spongebath by a hot nurse would have made me feel better.

Let me get this straight: you won't take anything to alleviate the symptoms of a simple cold, but you'll go to the doctor?

Just take my advice above, and you'll be feeling right as rain in no time.  You'll still be sick, but you'll feel tons better.  And not drowsy like you do with antihistamines.

Don't get me wrong, I am not stubborn enough to say no to pills if I absolutely need them. If I had an infection or something serious I would take them without thinking twice and last year after being rebuilt with titanium was an example of this.

But..... For those little annoying things like colds, headache and hangovers, I just prefer to let nature take it course without the aid of the chemicals.

It's a personal choice and my kidneys will thank me when I am older.

That is true. Almost all pain killers are bad for the kidneys and liver. I generally dont take them, since I dont get sick often. But I do take a lot of things like Tums and Maalox, at least once daily for heartburn, which are actually good for you (with the exception of constapation ;) )

Start eating or adding peppers to your diet.  The ingredient that makes them hot is the ingredient that makes better acid-reducers - capsaicin.  I did a little reading after growing some habanero's for the guys I worked with.  The capsaicin causes the stomach to release "stuff" that helps your stomach deal with them.  After HATING all things spicy/hot, I've worked myself up to being able to add habanero's to salsa and enjoying 'em.  I've found I get far less upset stomachs from food, and don't really experience heartburn anymore.  Start with the green Tabasco and work up to whatever you're comfortable with.

Looking back it was kinda funny....Not funny ha ha, funny like terrible.

I was in hospital and for a week and they had shot me full of all sorts of stuff. They kept feeding me pills and giving me injections night and day, it just never ended. Most unpleasant.

Then when it was nearing my time to go home, the doctor comes to see me. He asks, "when was your last movement?" and I told him. After the doctor left the guy across from me says, "mate, you shouldn't have told him that. You ain't going anywhere now...."

So they proposed a plan which involved me facing the wall with a worried look while they injecting a foreign cold substance in my back door, which was just a wonderful experience.....  ::)

This was supposed to do the trick but it didn't and there was no follow up by the doctors. Before I knew it I was heading home with a "full house".

The story gets even more distasteful from here so I will quit before I get kicked.

Ways to combat constipation:

1) eat more fiber.

2) cut down on meat.

3) drink *lots* of water

Of course, none of this helps once you're already there, but you can prevent a relapse...

I thought I had it bad when I first got there.....

When I was checked in I was sharing a room with four others. There was an old man in a bed across from me, I guess he was 75 and he was nice to me. He fetched me drinks of water and organised a long tube so I could just suck the water in from a glass because I couldn't move in bed or hold a glass myself.

When I was checked in he looked sick, but not terrible. In just a few days I watched him fall apart. I overheard the doctors say operating on him was not an option because he wouldn't survive. I don't know why he was actually there.

He got worse day by day, then one morning I woke and he was gone. I knew what had happened. It was so sad.

Hospital is a terrible place, my stories of being blocked up are insignificant compared to some of the stuff I witnessed in there. It's not a wonder the nurses come across as nasty pieces of work, it must be the only defence mechanism they have.

We have a saying in Australia, you see it as a bumper sticker quite often. "Nurses, we can't live without them".

I came out an emotional wreck after my stay, there is no way my personality suits a job where I am surrounded by suffering every minute. I take my beanie off to every one of them.

Living the delusional lifestyle.

Ways to combat constipation:

1) eat more fiber.

2) cut down on meat.

3) drink *lots* of water

Of course, none of this helps once you're already there, but you can prevent a relapse...

You forgot to mention the most important one....the one directly relatable to Bones!

Who's Bones? The CMO of the Enetrprise? Who is Bones?

I hate the hospital. I spent my last birthday there because I passed out and hit my head. I spent 4 hours in the ER so they could tell me I had a mild concussion. Ugh!
Proper capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse, and helping your uncle jack off a horse.
