Hmm...let's see.....
I had 11 PCs at home at one time (donated most to charity), now only have 5, including the one pictured below.
I used to be a forensic chemist.
I played D&D as a teen.
I built my own joysticks for my Commodore64!
I actually wear black horn-rimmed glasses (although they are Italian and rimless)
I almost made it to State in Science during high school.
My favorite channel is G4.

But since I have never bitten the head off of a live chicken, I am a nerd, but not a geek.

How do you have horn-rimmed glasses which are rimless?

If someone you know owned one and you reckon they'd need to phone you up for tech support then it's classed as a computer in my book.

"Rimless" actually means semi-rimless (stupid terminology, I know).  They have no frame along the bottom, only a clear nylon string that is grooved into the lens.

When I play Star Castle, I sometimes hear Obi Wan in the back of my head telling me to use the force.  Also my girlfriend has a Vulcan uniform.

Hmm, I tend to relate level of geekiness to numbers of girlfriends one had in high-school (and yes, if you had one girlfriend all the way through, you MISSED OUT).

Understanding the cable guy isn't geekworthy, it's just knowing a couple basic things.  Calling your ISP's help desk, asking for a supervisor, explaining the exact problem to him and telling him how to solve it, when he's not sure, is geekworthy.

And yes, I have done that a few times.

-Understand what punctuation if for, and how to use it.

Punctuation is good but also so is knowing the difference between if and is  ;)

I guess I am a geek at age 13 I spent so much time watching the pinball tech repair pins after a year he would let me diagnose the broken pins with him watching of course was right about 90% of the time. The best gift he gave me was the schematics for most of the pin/videos in the arcade. Always was the guy who fixed the vcr's for my circle of friends. In the early 80's found a huge hole in the computer system that kept all the grades for my school district. And seeing report cards were about to come out I gave my friend passing marks so his folks would let him go to a concert in a couple of weeks. Now I keep my computer smarts VERY secret got tired of my friends moms asking me to disinfect their computers of spyware/viruses after they just finished opening every email they got in hotmail for the past month. Or going to someones house and hearing the magic question "oh while you are here could you look at my system it seems really slow" and seeing kazza running in the background.

Heh, yeah, I tell people to bring their computer to my house, that I don't work on machines at other peoples' houses because my 'tools' are all here.

That stops 90% of the requests, people are too damn lazy to bring the machine over.

That might stop some folks. Crafty ones would invite you over for a BBQ and then say "while these delicious 2" thick steaks are grilling could you just have a peek at my computer"

I would consider a 2" steak a great incentive.  No one offers me anything, they invite me over on false pretenses and then ask me to take a look "while I'm already here".

A person offers me a freshly grilled 2" steak and I'll rebuild the whole freakin system for them.

I generally just look at it and see what freaking stupid software they downloaded on it to screw it up in the first place.  If it's easy, I fix it. Then if it looks hard I do one of two things:

1) I tell them to buy some software to fix it
2) I screw it up worse and tell them "I've done all I can do".

Yeah, but it's the people who invite me over and then spring their PC on me that annoy me.  If they wanted me to fix the damn PC, ask me to fix the damn PC, don't lie to me about why you wanted me at your house.  It's not like I want to go, but the wife never turns down an invitation.  So at this point, I'm at someone's house I didn't want to visit and they reveal that they had an ulterior motive for inviting us in the first place, making it an even bigger waste of time.

Ditto. I'll be like "Ok I already logged onto the router and it's asking for a password. All I need is the password. I can handle it from there."

I'm not even sure about that.  Get a real musicians to start talking about music (or better still, music equipment) and they will lead you to a place that's going to make any conversation about how to power a JAMA board look pretty normal.
