I'm somewhat the same way.
I play D&D = geeky
But I also play in a band = cool
I do however play a lot of video games = geeky
But I'm also a freelance recording engineer = cool
I'm sorry Shape, but that last one has been rescored

- Sound Recording Engineers are cool AND geeky. I believe that pushes you over to the geek majority.

As for my own qualifications:
BA in video production - geeky
MS in Multimedia Technology - extra geeky
I do Technology integration training for a branch campus of a State University - uber geeky
Home Network multiple machines, PC & Mac - check
Entire music collection digitized - check
Various comics, Sci-Fi, Tolkien, etc on the bookshelf - check
Compulsive consumer of "Geek Juice" (Mt. Dew) - check
Building my own arcade controls - check!
I've been called a lot worse over the years, not that it every really bothered me. These days the people I hear using the term geek are using it as a compliment to someone's technical prowess. I think I can live with that. Didn't someone once say that the geeks shall inherit the earth?
