my monitor started a ticking sound..

it doesnt happen before until today..it started the ticking sound from the back of the monitor..but it still display color fine though..anyone know what cuase this problem? thanks

Could be a capacitor going bad. Maybe even the flyback transformer developing a crack in it's case and starting to leak high voltage.

so if its continue like this, will it damage the monitor? and what is the flyback transformer? whats it looks like and where it located at? thanks

just follow the wire from the big suction cap from the tube to the PCB, thats the Flyback Transformer (ZZZAAAPPPPP!!!, careful)

How about a monitor with a power switch that ticks when voltage is applied, but then the sound goes away when it's actually turned on?

Switching power supply is on its last legs, budget for replacement soon.
