Some days it isn

Breaky and a cup of green tea out of the way it was time to go to work. Jumped in my freezing cold kombi and started it. Moved

Thats funny, whats even more funny is that you took a picture of "that thing" being towed.  ;D

On a side note "that thing" would make a nice Mame cab.  :D

Normally you have either points OR an electronic ignition. (The do the same job, break the circuit on the coil so that the spark goes to the plug.) Do you have points with an electronic spark advance?
Most older cars that had points also had mechanical spark advance rather than electronic.

Sounds like he's recently replaced his points ignition with an electronic ignition. I had a similar problem with a car burning points about once per month. Turned out the distrubutor shaft was slightly bent, causing it to spin out of true.

Ahhh, that would explain it. I would think that a bent shaft on a distributor would make it hard to set the dwell.

Yeah originally had points but I replaced them with electronics a few months ago. Now I have points again....

My shaft may have a slight bend but it still functions normally so there is no point dwelling on this.
