AdvanceMenu and Dos Mame No Roms Displayed

I'm having problems running AdvanceMENU 2.4.9 and MAME 069b Together. I added MAME as an emulator in the Advancemenu config file and when I try to start Advancemenu in DOS it gives me this error message:

error in reading the 'MAME' information from file 'c:\advancemenu\mame.xml'
Emulator 'c:\mame\dmame.exe' wirthout game information ignoring it.

I've tried running mame with the -listxml option and running it with -list option and this does nothing. Do I need a more up to date version of mame or what? Here are the computer specs if that helps:

celeron 400
128MB RAM
win98se

to create your XML files, do like you said you did
mame -listxml

but you need to pipe to a file. like this

mame -listxml >mame.xml


I'm not sure what version of MAME when XML is added.
