Problem showing snaps under ArcadeOS and Vantage
« on: March 02, 2005, 06:18:46 am »
Trying to run vantage under DOS. Comes up with a mass of error junk.
Arcadeos complains about a missing pcwrap or some crap. What is this? I finally got my Vibra 16c ISA sound card working and all I want to do is get this box with vantage running but it comes up with error junk. Running vantage under Winxp (without running a game) works. Comes up with the usual intro screen.

Using Windows DOS version 7 or something.

Please help.

Yah good point Peale, but I can't because it was in DOS only.

It's the usual error that comes up sometimes in Windows under DOS mame. Ahh this is annoying..

I dunno about the AOS thing you're getting (can you be more specific on that at least?) but if you're getting the error mentioned in a bunch of other VAntAGE threads, you need to use cwsdpmi with the -x parameter, or something like that.  Do a search for vantage in the software forum.

I can't believe I'm replying to this. Give some info.
So what if the error is under DOS. Get a pen an pencil and write it down. Take digital picture. Do something.
Also search the forums to see if anyone has seen the error before.

Error junk or some crap do not help in troubleshooting your issue

Sorry, this is part of the error when running Vantage.

Code: [Select]
Exiting due to signal SIGSEGV
Page fault at exp=00054a51, error=0004

Fixed the Protected mode wrap.

Vantage comes up with that error when run alone, but now runs games.
ArcadeOS is fixed now too.

Btw, does anyone know how to get ArcadeOS to show snapshots when using Vantage with ArcadeOS?

I am running ArcadeOS 2.52 with Vantage 1.12.

Thanks.

The snaps can't be zipped, and have to be 8 bit, IIRC.

Did you check out this thread.

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,28999.0.html

The problem seemed to be limited to some games (galaxian and a few others)

Hope this helps

Saw that thread. Mine works OK. It's just the snaps not showing.

Done that. I don't remember having a problem using snaps with MAME & ArcadeOS, but I seem to have a problem now using ArcadeOS and Vantage.

I fixed the problem.
I had to set the vantage.app file to point to c:\ instead of c:\vantage
