What mature games does catlist miss?
« on: February 01, 2005, 10:30:06 pm »
I seen a couple posts recently that say catlist (available at http://www.mameworld.net/catlist/) doesn't flag all the mature games.  However I haven't seen one game yet that it misses.  Does catlist really miss any mature (i.e. adult) games?  If so does anyone know what they are?

TIA,
Jim

if you doubt and want to lok at a MATURE list, goto MAWS and type in the keyword "MATURE" this  will give the entire list of mature realted material.

I think MAWS uses catver to get it's categories...so that probably won't help.  Triggerfin does his best to get all categories as correct as possible - if you find one he's missed just let him know...

Agreed, but I also know TriggerFin doesn't have time to play all the games himself.

I have seen times when a later version of catver changed a game to mature even though the previous version did not list it.

It also doesn't help when the MAMEdevs re-name games so what was a mature game in MAME 0.6x may be a non-mature game in 0.7x, but the old mature game is still in 0.7x with a different name.  :P

More rumors of non-catlist flagged mature games, but still not one rom name confirmed! :)  I'd think it'd be pretty easy to write a perl script to compare two versions of catlist to alert you when a game category changes.  Rom name changes would still be a manual check though.  I doubt I'll have time to write it before my next baby gets here, so if anyone else would like to exercise their perl skills I'd happily steal your script! :)
