I just got my weekly up date from them and I see they now have Metal Slug 5 out.  Just thought I would give a heads up.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-7s-77-1-15-metal+slug-70-3bx.html - mslug4 $20.00
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-7s-77-9-15-metal+slug-70-gyh.html - mslug5 $32.00

I think that while 4 & 5 are still fun they are the weakest in the series.  Looks like the PC versions are sold in Korea.  Play Asia will ship them to your house.  I recently bought some Japanese ps2 games from them and had a good transaction.

probably when rom houndz quit asking "Where can I find an emulator to play Golden Tee 2k1?"  Every single week on every single emulation forum known to man.

The newer neogeo titles were purposefully withheld from mame longer than normal titles because of all the warez kiddies constant bickering.

My advice, shut up about it.... DEFINATELY don't go complaining about it over at mameworld unless you want them to never be added.

I read on one of the MameWorld boards a while ago that some of the Metal Slug games from places like Play Asia are dodgy versions running (unnofficial versions of) MAME.

Beware of that...

i prefer the "unofficial" releases of MAME... although i gotta say Capcom Vs SNK Chaos, is probably one of the worst capcom fighters i ever played, pretty dissapointing

quick note about GTG games.  The trouble is the next version of hardware was used for many years.  So emulating one will be a rom swap to get all the others working.

Also, they are still selling and making money on them.

Until all games that use the hardware are both old enought and not making money... The driver might get added...

btw, its been emulated fully for over a year now...  But never submitted (for good reasons)...

Their probably running a higher version then that.. I'll say 2k or 2k1.

They've done a great job "protecting" those roms.  As they haven't leaked anywhere.

I don't think all the MAME devs have cabinets.  In fact it seems hardly any of them do or they would emulate the controls more arcade-accurately   :P  (oooohhhh!!)

AMEN to that!

What shits me the most is the fact that most of these warez kiddies consider the MAME devs own them something.  The comments I'm seeing above about them "holding back" are the kind of thing I usually expect in a thread like this.  These people work FOR FREE, and the best the community can do is hound them to work faster?  Pathetic!

R Belmont threatened for a while that for every game that was ask for on a message board, he hold back development of that driver for 1 month.  I only wish he wasn't joking.  I was quite happy to see the MAME team stop at 2000 games.  Now I see 2001 games creeping in, and it's sad.

It's been said a million times: Metal Slug 4 and 5 are just rediculous addons to an already long running series.  And you can go and buy Golden Tee for PC (as well as play it in most arcades still - at least where I am you can).

If people spend all their time playing pirate ROMs and not feeding money into arcade machines, you can kiss the future of said arcade machines goodbye.  Who in their right mind would make an arcade machine game these days with all of the warezing that goes on in emulation communities?

No wonder Konami only make slot and pachinko machines these days.  There's no money in video entertainment thanks to people like this.

There is one point that you didn't hit upon.  One reason that the arcade community is losing ground is not primarily from pirating, but because of the proliferation of home game machines.  The youth of today is more interested in playing Halo (or insert you game) at home, rather than  going to an arcade.  Why pay $.50/game at an arcade when I can rent a game at blockbuster for $2.99 and keep if for 3 days?  The simple fact is that the arcade of yesterday is now a dying business.  Arcade manufactures can't keep pace with the growing popularity of home systems.

I believe the another Video Game Crash will be coming. If the Arcade industries want to survive, they must build a game and never make a console port of it, but they would not do that because they know that they are gonna make money if they make a console port for it. So the one that losses out will be the operator who bought the that Heavy piece of furniture  ;)

If I had a dollar for every warez kiddy that asked for KOF200X or SFIII on the www.mame.net forums, I'd be a very wealthy man.  Considering both are available on modern consoles.  The same for all these folks demanding Golden Tee 2015 super ultra delux giga edition when it can be purchased for a few dollars online for PC.

Sure, home consoles contribute to losses of arcade turnover.  But that still doesn't excuse the vulgar amount of users who pirate MAME games when they are still available in arcades, or even on a console of their choice.  Passing the buck to the console industry is not the right answer.

I just think the home hardware caught up to the arcades.  I remember when the arcade games looked so much better then the home console ports. But not anymore.  The arcades arent dead as far as im concerned.  Dave and Busters is alive and kicking and arcade owners should take notice on how they do buisness if they want to make in todays market.

The majority of console kids don't seem to play arcade ports as far as I can tell.  Most of them couldn't care less about arcade games anymore, except the odd one.  Even fewer are interested in 2d arcade games...I agree that what kids want they can get on consoles nowadays - ever since the DC console ports are often *better* than the arcade version anyway.

Back to mame tho, I think they should keep out the post 2000 games until the older games' emulation is improved.  The danger is that (some) devs may lose interest...Nice to see with the Sega developments a lot of the 80's games are getting some attention.  Plus Nicola and some others are going over various other 80's games.  Many thanks to those devs :)

Agreed.  The Devs who are taking the time to jump backwards in time for a moment and tackle old unemulated games, or even more maddeningly, fix those 5-year-old bugs should be saluted.

Those are the painful and gloryless jobs that don't ever get the attention they deserve.  But to be honest, they are the true spirit of what MAME is about.

And yes, the post-2000 ban should be re-implemented and held onto for at least another 3 years.

What's got my goat lately are those Super-Joy pads that come with a bunch of emulated pirated NES games.  This bothers me WAY more then any warez kid asking for r0mz.  Nintendo put the smack down on a bunch on in mall kiosks that were selling these, but I've still seen them around.  Imagine a Jakks Pacific type device with pirated Roms...   >:(
