Anyone interested in NY BYOAC meet?
« on: January 15, 2005, 03:44:25 pm »
The New England BYOAC meet is almost 5 hours from me.  I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a meet in Long Island NY?  (Bayport, 11705)  I see bunch of people post about questions for/near NYC.   I also see rebirth had a meet at his house in August of 03, (Arcade-A-Thon).  (The search can be real helpful!)  I was wondering if anybody would be interested in a meet about the end of Febuary or Beginning of March.

There was a meet a few months back (November?) in Staten Island or Long Island... my memory is a bit hazy.  Mamemaster started it I believe.  I wanted to go, but I had school, so couldn't make it.  Depending on when it is, I'd definitely try to go to this one.

Wow, Bayport is right around the corner from me.  Hey, how about making the meet at the Dave and Busters right in Islandia.  It's right off the expressway and would be easy for people to get to.

Thanks
Charlie

Well I had hoped to go to the NY meet, but scheduling and distances made it impossible.  But I live on LI so I would definately be able to go to one here. (of course I am out east so its still a trek to Islandia :)

Hi!...actually "The Nasty" started the NY/NJ get together and I just  picked the date/location to get the ball rolling...

but we had a really bad rainstorm that day and only the Nasty and the Mamemaster showed up! (there were supposed to be at least 7 of us!).

We met at Dave and Busters and had lunch and obviously talked a bunch about Mame. I even got to check out his unique dual monitor cab. Really neat stuff!....

Any way...I would be open to a  get togther on the island....

I saw the thread after the post you made above.  I didn't see it before that.  ALOT comes up if you try a search for NY...lol  I'm assuming that if you got to see his cab, you went to his house.  I am thinking about having one here at my house.  My basement is in the- wait- here:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,30057.0.html
Obviously enough games to keep a few people busy.  Here would be just a differen't enviorment that an arcade.  And CLEAN Bathrooms, (I just hate public restrooms).  We could order out for lunch,  within 3 minutes of here is awesome pizza, buger king, blimpies, chinese, etc.   But, what ever.  I am about 1 hour and 15 minutes east of NYC. (11705 if you want to see it on mapquest) If we went to Dave and Busters in Islandia, that would be about 15 minutes closer to anyone coming east.  There is also Sports Plus in Smithtown.  About same distance as me, I guess.

2 out of 7, huh?  Hope it doesn't rain for this one.  Hmmmm.   Hope it's not cold either....

OUCH OUCH OUCH...sorry I popped wood when I saw all those machines......sigh. I need a basement.

Any way, very cool collection.

My relatives live in Syosset....so it's no biggie for me to get out there...(it's my in laws- so I can leave my wife behind with her parents).

If no one else is interested...I would love to see that basement next time I'm out on the Island!

I'll monitor this thread to see where it leads. When final decisions are made, thats the time I make one. Where is this place at ? is it close by where we meet Mamemaster ?

....this is actually quite far from where you and I live (actually a bit closer for you as you can go over the GW Bridge onto Long Island). But I would guess with the normal traffic...you're looking at an optimistic 1 1/2 to a more likely 2 hour drive. What sucks is that it really isn't that far....it's the traffic that kills.

Generally when I head out there I stay overnight at my in laws to lessen the pain of the drive!  :P (and yes, thankfully I get along well with my in laws!  ::)  )

I was thinking on the beginning of March.  I work for myself, so dates don't matter to me, except preferrably not on a Sunday, unless it would be after 3:00.

Anyone else that could make it have any requests for dates, or "black-out" dates?  It seems like Saturdays would be good for the average person, due to work or school.

I got an empty cab with some water damage on the bottom but with a good monitor for $10.  I threw the whole thing down there hopeing to salvage the cab.  A week later I opened that door and...   The wet cab STUNK!!!   I stuffed a few fabric softener sheets in the bottom of it and it seems to be fine now, that it dried out.

I didn't think of that, (DUH!)  I was picking places near me, (like my basement).  Does anyone one know of any other places in Nassau?  Since we have some people comeing from/through the city.  If we did do Nassau, I would be willing to bring anyone local that could make it as far as my house.
BYW- what's Jillians, I've never heard of it.

Not as many replies as I was hoping for.  Lets say the first Saturday in April.  I think that's the 2nd.  That gives people alot of time to make plans.  Unless anybody would like a different day.  I have seen posts that show a number of people that live in or near the city, I was hoping for more responses.  I guess we can take votes on where to go.  We don't have to deceide that right now.  I think Dave and Busters in Islandia seems to be the best place.  Also right off the expressway, so it's easy to find.

hey there.....I'm still up for stopping by when I visit my relatives out in Syosset.

But...I'm in the middle of a move (to Mid town NYC)....so it's going to be a while before I'm out there on the island......

.....don't dispair...this is a tough bunch to get together!....believe me ....me and Mr. Nasty know first hand as we were the one 2 to show up at our last "get together". We had anticipated at least 8 people to show up!

Would anyone definately make it on Saturday April 2nd?  I didn't set a place, since no one responded with a definately.  Looks like it would be Sports Plus in Smithtown, Dave and Busters in Islandia, or my house in Bayport.

Anyone?
