Monitor Wont turn on :(
« on: January 06, 2005, 04:39:01 pm »
ok guys heres what happend:
I got a monitor to replace my old dead on in my soul calibur machine. The old was a Wells Gardner k7000 and the new was a NeoTec 2515C. I hooked the new one up and at first it had some white lines going horizonataly across it with a messed up image.. so after adjusting the focas and screen controls I got it to go away and the image to appear. For the most part the image looked good except for REDS werent showing! So i adjusted the RED control on the top part of the neckboard... nothing seemed to happen so i then adjusted the RED saturation knob on the lower part of the neckboard and now the majority of the screen was red! Like u could barely see the old colors behind all the red... so i adjusted the knobs a little and then the reds became perfect but the BLUES dominated the screen now.. so I went to get a drink, i come back, and the monitor is off! I look and the fuse is blown.. so I go out, buy a new fuse and replace it but it still wont turn on... anyone have any idea whats wrong? Thanks!

you and me again.  :o

First, if its NEW, the RED/GREEN/BLUE wouldn't need any adjusting. It should be good at default. Second are you using an ISO for the Neotec ? I dunno if it needs one or not.

I've worked on the older Neotecs (like 10 years old). Those had several caps that would dry out causing inoperative monitors. They also would burn up a resistor, but generally just a cap kit and replace a resistor got 'em going again. Never had any flybacks go bad though. You can contact the manufacturer at www.neotecgraphic.com

hhmm its funny cuz this monitor just had a whole new cap kit put on it before it was sent to me.. could adjusting colro controls really mess someting up THIS bad? I mean now the monitor acts as if it gets no power and shows no sign of life by looking at it.. I also wonder why that fuse blew?

I have not worked on a 2515. My experience on Neos were on the older models. Strongly recommend contacting the manufacturer's tech support dept.

ah alright.. also a kinda more random note... in the previous monitor I had in there.. I think it was the tube that was the main cause of it note workin.. do u think its possible to put the old monitors WellsGardner k7000 board with the new ones neotec tube?

I would advise against putting a Wells chassis on a Neotec tube.
