How to clear MAME key config?

How do you clear a key assignment in MAME?  I don't mean reset everything to defaults, I mean how can I set a key in the config menu to n/a, nothing, nil, blank, whatever?

Delete your \cfg\*.cfg files.

You can use a ctrlr file or the tab menu to set up all mappings.
