Is it stupid to have TWO Pongs?

Yes, totally stupid
Yes, you should give the extra one to me.
Not stupid, the 2nd one should be kept in storage as a spare.
Both of them should be proudly displayed side by side.
What, ONLY 2?

Is it stupid to have TWO Pongs?
« on: November 27, 2004, 06:15:51 pm »
I already have one Pong (we are talking full size 1973 quarter moncher), it is a 1973 Williams "Pro Tennis" which is a 4 player model.

I just agreed to buy another one, which is a 1973 Chicago Coin 2 player "Olympic Pro Hockey". Which looks different and has a different version of Pong.

I'm crazy, aren't I?

Paige, FWIW, making it possible to choose all 5 answers won't help you.

And yes, I think you're dumb for having two.  The only reason to have two is for identical replacement parts, and in that case, the second one should not be working due to some easy-to-fix problem.  Otherwise, you're wasting space, and from what I've seen, your apartment is lackingn on space (although it never seems to be lacking pretty women.....screw it, trade the PONG for another pretty woman  ;D )

What I would do is buy it and sell it off to someone else that will keep it in the condition it deserves.  Make sure it doesn't wind up in a dump.

Keeping it out of the dump is one reason why I am getting it in the first place. A buddy picked it up (had to buy it in order to get another game), and he doesn't want it because he already has a Kee Games Elimination 4 player standing cocktail pong. So he is gonna sell it to me for like almost nothing because he knows I will take care of it.

I have a cocktail with that form factor in my basement right now, it takes more space to display than 4 uprights.

Also, his is currently the only Elimination 4 player cocktail known to be around.

Pong would occupy me for like 3 minutes tops...  i can see owning 1 for collectors value but 2 is pretty pointless unless you plan on reselling for more cash

Having two would be awesome. If you can get a second one cheaply, by all means do.

Well they ARE different games. One is pretty much straight up Pong, either 4 player or two player. It is one of the very first clones to come out.

The other one is 2 player only and has 3 paddles per side, with a small goal to shoot the ball in.

I'll probably eventually trade one of them for a different bronze age game.
