hi all, i have a question..

is it possable to disable mames on screen display and the pause feature?

the kids play my cab and are forever getting them selve's stuck mid game because of frantic joystick thrashing..

as my cabinet is pretty mutch configured if it was disabled it really would be no loss,,

any help on this  would be aprecaited

geoff..

You say that they do it while using the joysticks/buttons on a cab.  I take it this means you have a button/button combination to access those features.  Your best bet is if you need those features, put a couple of dedicated buttons somewhere out of plain sight, or like you said lose them altogether.

firstly thankyou for your reply...

so can i take the key bindings for the osd out of mame or would i have to edit my j-pac settings?.. ive got my j-pack set to default at the moment..

what happens is when you hold player 1 button down and move the joystick in a certain direction it brings up either the osd/pause or volume options, this obviosly pauses the game and the kids( there only 2-3 ) get stuck/or change things they shouldnt.

the j-pack is decoding this as a certain keypress and bringing up the osd in mame.. what i want to do is set the osd display to a key that isnt bound in the j-pac, but i dont know if you can..

if not i guess i can re-program the j-pack but i was hoping to avoid that

thanks geoff

No problem.  It does sound like a shift function is occuring when that happens so you may need to re-program them to a combination a little more unlikely to be made while playing (such as coin + a button/direction).  And I know what you mean about the kids getting stuck.  Mine are 4 (5 in a couple of weeks), 3, and 2.  Good luck!

can't ou just go to the TAB General and change the PAUSE "P" to PAUSE "NONE" ? this will avoid you re-programing the j/i-pacs.
