Retiring from the Mame community for a while.
« on: September 17, 2004, 07:19:03 am »
It has been some great times, but I am going to log off here for quite a while. I spend far too much time compulsively checking this messageboard for little good reason.

Its been fun, good luck with your cabinets and just say no to frankenpanels!
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Paige,

You will be missed. Come back when you are ready. This board has a way of sucking you in and making us addicts to more than just the games.

I hear that.  I wonder why it is so hard to just check once a day?  I can't do it for some reason.

We'll miss you, have fun with whatever it is you will be doing out in 'meatspace.'

Oh, and before you go, can you please unveil the mystery behind the Phil Collins reference?  :-)

I kind of see Paige's point.  I mean, I rarely check out the Main Board.  As it's the same posts over and over again.

I dont blame you for wanting a break, I mean the amount of verbal garbage that gets posted on the this forum is incredible. I log on every now and again and check to see if there is anything interesting or not. In most cases theres not but sometimes I get suprised with some really good posts, that don't turn into ramberling fights between users that go way of topic!

it will be a shame - your posts always added value.

but i don't blame you - this forum seems to be full of dumb arse US politically motivated threads these days.

Being in the UK I am not particularly happy with our President Blair (oops sorry...Prime Minister - only a matter of time eh Tony?) but i don't go about posting messages here about it. It seems they only serve to divide the BYOAC community, and do not add value.  Personally I think they should not be allowed - there are plenty of other forums for such discourse. Keep your politics private thats what i say.

Also it seems like every new posting on the Main forum has been seen before - deja vue?

...

And it will probably get worse before it gets better.  But at least we only have a little more than a month of it left.

To keep this on topic:  See ya, Paige!  Thanks for the memories!

"Also it seems like every new posting on the Main forum has been seen before - deja vue?"

It's innovation stall, happens to everything.  There's only so much you can talk about as far as building panels and cabinets until there's more innovation.  Think about the hobby for the last two years, the only thing that has majorly changed is the software and some new ideas like spinning CPs.  Everything else is new twists on old problems, people seeking opinions, and troubleshooting posts.  I think that's why people check this forum more than the main thread, there's not much new going on there.
Still in the collecting parts and ideas phase of cabinet building.
