Starting Bad Dump games thru Mamewah
« on: September 06, 2004, 06:32:25 pm »
Just did the move up to Mame .86u2  (from .81), and I'm finding that games that have bad dumps (i.e. World Class Volleyball) won't start when I launch them thru Mamewah.  If I do it thru a command line prompt, it gives my the option to hit ok to continue.   Is there a switch in the .ini file that I can set so that it bypasses this?  I've already set the other two menu switches to 1, but can't seem to get around bad dump messages.

Any ideas or suggestions?

p.s. I'm using the optimized mameATXP build from redump...

for BAD DUMPS, NO DUMPS, NOT WORKING, SOUND Not Working, WRONG Colors,etc..., you can't disable that (unless you use a UN-Official Build that disabled it). The reason for this is to illiminate reports game not working, or sounds not working, colors not right etc...cause it already inform the users at the promt about whats wrong with it.

You can only disable the Game Info, look in the MAME.INI most like at the bottom of the list something along this line SKIP INFO etc... change 0 to 1.

Configure MameWah to show dos box

Actually the default setting 'Auto-Show' is there for this very reason...it should only show the DOS box when a 'bad dump' game is launched...

thanks for the help gang!  I had DOS box set to auto, but it wouldn't pop up on bad dumps, so I had to set it to SHOW DOS box.  Kind of a pain, but oh well no biggie.  Any suggestions as to hacked MAME builds that get around this?

btw...Great job on the new realease Minwah!!  I've got something to do this evening now

OK I think I have found the problem...

For some reason I added a check in before verifying the romsets to make sure the List Generation Method was a MAME one (either Listinfo or Verifysets)...so I guess you are probably using a DAT file List Gen. Method.

In MAMEWAH v1.5 just use the Listxml list_generation_method and it should work.  I've fixed this for v1.51 so any List Gen. Method will work :)
