Announcing Hurricade
« on: August 31, 2004, 02:18:02 pm »
I live in Orlando and was hit hard by Charley a few weeks ago, and it looks like Hurricane Frances is hitting this weekend.  I have been wanting to start my cabinet for a month but storm damage has kept me and my bank account busy.

However, the good news (other than saving 10% on my car insurance) I thought of a name for my project.  I am imagining a cp overlay with a satelite type view rendering of a hurricane with the eye being where the trackball goes.  Maybe you guys can help me come up with some cool additions to my theme.

Time to go shopping for propane, gas, water, and most importantly BEER!  I sense a Hurricane party coming to town.

That sounds like a cool idea.  Have you gotten any images of the hurricane yet?  I'd like to see what you're gonna use.

Good luck with the storm.

Oohhh, both of those are very good.  I have just started my search for a picture.  Thanks for the input.  I am sure that I will have to get one of the graphics guys around here to doctor one up for me as I am not very creative at all.

I am trying to figure out how to make the theme kinda of cartoon like.  It needs to be fun.

aren't Hurricanes made with rum?  Find someone who makes a good one (or fly me, your barcadetender down) and make it one to remember.  ;)

Oh, and you have Geico?!  Lizard lover :P

Check out the NHL Hurricanes and see if they have anything you might want to throw on your cab too, unless you hate hockey.  (don't tell the canadians, eh!  They get real upset aboot people who don't like hockey, eh)

There is probably some type of Photoshop effect you can do to create swirls.
Don't have Photoshop so not sure.

That is funny.  I live in Orlando as well.  My first cab was about half finished when Charley came through (all of the main woodwork was done).  I don't work on it in a carport (unenclosed garage) that isn't protected from the hurricane.  I took very few precautions but the one thing I was sure of, the cab needed to come inside during the hurricane.  I figured, if anything else got damaged, that was just money.  I'm not sure I could talk myself into building another one after losing the first.

I think my wife thought I was crazy.

PS. Half of my tree fell on my house, but the cabinet is fine  :)
