Are there any pong-like games for MAME?
« on: July 15, 2004, 01:57:56 pm »
Just wondering. I know the original isn't available - are there any other games like it?

You could always use NoName Mame and play the original.

PONG on NEOGEO namedly NEOPONG. Get the un-official version of MAME m aybe Nonamemame supports it or add it yourself here is a link to how to add Neopong to your own build of MAME.

I believe No Name MAME supports it in source code only.

I believe No Name MAME supports it in source code only.
NoNameMAME v0.82u1.11 supports it in binary, don't know about later builds.

bummer. This would go in my bartop that I made - currently have it at work. It is up and running and used constantly.

I was hoping there was like Pong84, or Pong Flamer, or Donkey Pong, or something, you know?

The original is out there.  Something similar would probably be like Arkanoid, or Super Breakout, or PlayGirls, or one of the many other breakout style games.  There might be a hockey game like Pong also, but I'm not sure (there was for the Magnovox Odyssey, but I digress).

well there are all those pong related games, or you can download the japanese crazy pong-ish game.  i cant remember the name of it, but you choose between 6 or 7 characters and each of them has a shield and you try to hit the orbs/crystals/skulls (depending on your character) that is behind the other guy.  each player has a special return.  the one chick i use (because she had huge boobs) has this return where you can make the ball curve around the opponent.  when i get home ill find it on my cab and post the name here unless somebody else beats me to it.

Pong combat? What is the MAME abbreviation?

It's a pc game.  It came out when mk2 was all the rage.  It's pong with special moves and fatalities.

Laser... although it's not advertised, 16 types of pong are in this emu.

The keys are hardcoded though, so someone really needs to go in and fix that (hint hint).

MASH fro mameworld use to have a hack for mame.  I have it somewhere, but it will only compile into an old mame, like pre .70.
It's no longer on his site.  Maybe you can contact him and find out more info.

MASH's hack only added in the original PONG, which is the same as using NoNameMAME.
