is this normal? busted lcd question
« on: May 17, 2004, 01:57:55 pm »
About 3 days ago, my GF was babysitting her little sister.  She tripped over the network cable running accross the room and pulled the laptop off the coffee table.  It fell all of 1
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

yes, it can sometimes take a bit of time for the liquid crystal to start leaking after an impact.  unfortunately your going to be looking at an expensive repair unless you can find a replacement LCD on evilbay for cheap.

what type of laptop is it, I have a couple screens around, may have what you need, pm me model make and serial num and I'll take a look if you like.

Cut the cords!!!!!!! I have a 3 1/2 year old running around and a newborn. Start looking into wireless options every wireless router sold is cheaper than a lcd replacement.

its a sony PCG-GR390

I'm going to send it in to circuit city's repair center (or whatever it is) because it's still under the extended warantee.

I realize they will probably not fix it, but it's wort a try I guess.

So if anyone has a screen (which I highly doubt) let me know in case it doesn't get replaced by circuit city.

I'm thinking about getting a 5"-7" touch-screen lcd for my car and using it in there if it's going to cost too much for a new full sized lcd.  Might be a fun project...

Or should I be asking my GF if she's not telling me something?

Well. it seems like you've got the screen thing under control, but you might want to ask your GF anyway.  Not related to the laptop, but just in general.  She may have a guilty conscience about something else, and will come clean.  If nothing else, it's a good way to start a fight.

She's my baby's momma... I don't think I'll be breaking up any time soon.
