Good Games That Use a Spinner
« on: April 01, 2004, 09:39:18 pm »
Hi.  I've never actually played an arcade game that uses a spinner.  So, I'm hoping that you can make some quick recommendations.  What are your favorite spinner games?  What are the "standard" spinner games?  Thanks in advance.

I'll put in a vote for Tron and Disks of Tron.

A spinner works remarkably well for some of the racing games like Super Sprint and Ironman Stewart's Off Road Racing.  I'd rather have a 360 steering wheel, but the spinner played them better than I expected, and it is a bit smaller  ;).

Forgot Arkanoid, definitely one of my favorite spinner games.  Also the Tron note above should have included an *, as it would be tough to play without a trigger stick or at least a top fire joystick.  Disks of Tron is even rougher control wise, as it had a trigger stick with a thumb button and the spinner moved up and down.  I've had some fun playing it with a top fire joystick and a spinner though, just have to reach for buttons when I need to use the shield.

i haven't got a spinner but do have a 3" trackball on order from Happ.

Can i use the trackball with games designed to have spinners? (eg. spin the ball left and right)

'Omega Race' would be my next choice after Tempest.
Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!

Plump Pop

Off the Wall (Atari version)

Warlords (technically a 270' POT based spinner game, as is Super Breakout and some others).
