Crazy Climber Button Configuration
« on: March 28, 2004, 08:19:24 pm »
Hi All,

How do I have games automatically re-configure the controls to my specicication without having to do it manually every time I play the game (i.e., is there a creazyclimber config file for controls?).

I am running MAME32, and also am thinking of using MAMEWAH?

I know I can press the TAB key in MAME and do it every time I play the game, but htis gets bothersome..

For example, I want to configure player 2 joystick for Crazy climber, or.... Program Player 2 controls for Pacman so we don't have to swap seats at the game, etc.

Thanks for the help.

for Crazy Climber, you need 2 joystciks to play "One for Left Hand, the other Right hand".

Since alot of games were ALTERNATING for player 1 and 2 (pacman,Ms.Pacman,Space Invader etcc), it won't setting up the player 2 controls for the player 2 joystick. Player 2 must use the player 1 joystick. Now in some games like (I think Skyshark) you can set this up because in the game itself you can. In the DIP switch, there is a setting called "Dual Joysticks) something like that intead of Single Joystick. Now id pacman,ms.pacman, space invader etcc...had that option then it would work cause you just set it up for dual joysticks. Hope I made sense...

Thanks. I have two joysticks. One for player 1 and 1 for player 2 (wired to my IPAC as P1 and P2) When I (try to) play crazy climber, Joystick 2 does not work when I start up. I have to do this by hitting the TAB key and reset. How can I save this so I don't have to do everytime I play the game???

Thanks.

are you selecting the LEFT/UP, LEFT/DOWN etcc....and RIGHT/UP, RIGHT/DOWN etccc option for the controls of Crazy Climber ?
If so, maybe your cclimber.cfg could be RO (read-only). You need to either delete it or take the RO attribute.

I have the same config (2 joysticks and an IPAC). What I did for my MAME (not MAME32) is to hit tab in-game and just re-assign the right hand controls to the player-2 stick. It remembers it from then out (it writes it to the .cfg file). MAME doesn't care what buttons do what. It just passes keystrokes to the game. You could map CC's arms to random cabinet buttons or keyboard keys if you wanted.

But it doesn't matter. I still can't play that f*ing game any better than I could 20 years ago! I even tried the PSX version (Crazy Climber 2000). I get to die in 3D! I don't have to pump quarters to practice anymore, but I still don't seem to improve at that damn game.  ;D
