mame won't create config files ????

I redid my mame computer/cab and was trying to change the "inputs this game" for Tron. My changes weren't taking so I did some looking around. My mame/cfg directory only has three files in it. It used to be chocked full of changes that I made over the years. I notice that there is not a tron.cfg in there. I use a front end so I loaded mame tron in a command line and tried to change the inputs again. Still, no changes made and no cfg file created. I copied my old tron.cfg from another install (would have been the changes I wanted to make) but yet the changes still don't take effect. I don't see any problems with the attributes on the directory or files. Any ideas???


Oh yeah, I tried another game (time pilot 84) and had the same results. It will not create cfg files or save changes.

It might be a windows permissions thing.
Are you logged in or running mame as administrator?

I'm running mame 0.62 under win98 dos mode with arcadeos as a front end. I just did a DOS shell from inside arcadeos and changed to the mame/cfg directory. I used dos edit and created test.cfg . I think this would indicate that there are no permission or attribute problems.

Wow, I have no idea why it was like that but NO, it was not set up to the correct path. I'm not sure why it would make a difference in saving the settings since it should have just used the cfg files it was creating in the other directory. In any event, it is fixed (and I feel stupid - shouldn't have to check mame.cfg after 15 years of not looking at it).
