I know I need to discharge it now before even messing with it. I get power to the gameboard and can hear the game's audio. Monitor just isn't firing up. Any quick checks I can apply?

Some cab have interlock switch. When you take out or open the backdoor, it shut off the monitor. Did you open the Backdoor ?

Yeah, this cab doesn't have that interlock kill switch. We actually powered up the cab at the site with the back panel off. I checked the edge connectors, they look to be good. I guess the next thing is to check fuses. Then follow this:

If there is a better progression of checks, please let me know. Gotta get ready to discharge this thing now.

BTW, I picked up 3 cabs for $280 (Lethal Enforcers, Blitz 2000 Gold, MK2 w/Ergheiz <=is the problem child). Not too shabby. Pics as I go along.

Phewwww. So the short molex lead off the flyback that leads to the isolation transformer was just chilling, hanging off the back of the monitor., not connected to anything. But I couldn't find a corresponding molex connector in the cab. But I did see a 2-wire cable with female pins that looked to be unsheathed from a molex coming off the isolation transformer on the floor. For kicks, I plugged them into the isolation transformer molex lead coming off the monitor and flipped the switch. I immediately heard a fuzzy sound of electricity filling the vacuum tube. And viola! I got video again, although v-hold was going nuts.

Question is now, are these two wires polarized?

AC voltage is not polarized, the wires are they black and white by any chance?

That is good news, thanks!

Well, I flipped them anyway. One way, I got v-hold flipping like crazy. The other way (and this is where I left it last) v-hold was stable but it was vertically squished. I won't get to work on it again till the weekend due since I am a work commuter. But glad the problem was identified and can move on.

The cables coming off the step down transformer were identical. I think there was striping on the short lead cable coming of the fly-back but am  not sure either.

your terminologies are incorrect, the flyback is the name given to the high voltage transformer (the block with focus and screen volts control)
the part you are talking about is called the chassis

the vertical issue you describe can only be caused by badly adjusted vertical hold pot or incorrect connection of sync from game board

if you put a photo up of your chassis and the wires you want to know about then we can tell what each is/does

you need to get the correct info or you will end up  with a fried monitor or worse
