« on: October 10, 2015, 11:03:15 am »
Hi guys, its been a while since my last build and the bug has bitten again. Since building the Arkanoid Bartop, I've wanted to do a horizontal in a similar style. here's my progress so far. sorry for the crappy pics.

Today I've worked on the coin mech area. Leaving enough space below for the cash door.

Today I've cut out the bezel and back. Next I will be taking it all apart to sand, prime and paint.  :hissy:

sand, prime and paint.

Hopefully not in that order. There is really no need to sand MDF. (unless the edges)

I normally prime, sand then paint.

Not to mention the amount of nasty ass dust that sanding MDF would create.

I always sand first to remove any residue from labels and slight imperfections from cuts I've made.

My process is seal the edges, sand, prime, sand, prime, paint, wetsand, paint, lacquer, sand and buff. Aiming for a nice mirror finish.

I really like the look of the coin mech.  Makes the cabinet look so much more "playable" and fun.

A high gloss. Must be the same brand as the paint though

I wouldn't have thought of putting the coin mech beside the screen like that, but it looks great!

Yeah not sure on the name myself, and I don't like the font.  Will probably keep the colours though. Any suggestions on a name? Want something generic.

What types of games do you plan on playing the most?  Might help with naming.  By the way, love the styling.

So if you are going to play a lot of classics call it, "8-bit Spectrum" or something vague like that

If it's a go right and fight cab call it, "Final Boss" or "Next Level" ya get the idea

other short name ideas:  Raster, Pixel, Excite, Station 1, Blaster, Twitch

Might have to change the colours from lines, didn't realise it looks similar to the" zx spectrum". The colours are taken from Pacman. I probably won't be keeping it as I already have an upright. That's why I want a generic name

Not really a flip, I started over a year ago. It's the building I enjoy. I usually build them strip and build again. Just don't have the room. I just keep the Marquee.
