I dunno, Saint was more active when he gave those out.

Anyway....  The body work on the Camaro is nearly complete.  I can get it painted soon!  Working on the black trim (which they never paint) as we speak.

How much $$$ are we talking here? My wife has a car that needs a paint job, and I don't really feel like going around getting estimates at this point because I'm in no position to do so. Online estimates range from $3000 to $15000 but I could have made an estimate like that myself. The clear coat is flaking quite a bit, and we were thinking of doing either a flat black with gloss black flames, or gloss black with really dark purple flames. Although personally I love the white on front fading out to colour as it is now. It's just a bit too much.

As little as humanly possible.  I'm getting it painted the same factory color, so that helps a lot with the price, but it also means that inside the doors and all the jazz I have to paint myself.  There isn't a whole lot of surface area in those places though, so rattle cans of color match do just fine.  I don't have a choice really... my paint isn't fading or just starting to look bad, it's virtually non-existent.

In terms of what you were wanting to do, the same base color is always cheapest.  If you change it though flat black is a lot cheaper than gloss black which is literally the hardest, most expensive color you can get if you want a perfect finish.

Why blame  Chance?  He should be a bar that all builders should set their own goals to.  The days of using marble wallpaper to cover our machines is over.  We should all strive to make our machines to the best of our capabilities.  Chance is just a little over the top.

I third the request for brake pics, I've been thinking of making one, scrap angle calling my name.

Problem with the scrap wood box is I have no where to put something that big.

Well I didn't build a super huge box... in fact I just had a scrap piece of plywood and some casters lying around and went... "hmm".  I think the inner dimensions of the cart are around 2'x3'

I'll take some pics of the brake this evening, but seriously... just two pieces of angle iron... nothing to see.  About the only advice I can give is if you don't have a drill press or a welder, you aren't making one because it's unlikely you'll be able to drill through the iron.
bumping for pic - is it anything like this?

I dunno.  I like my ideas.  Not to bring in naff in the chuff thread, but nothing else is working out for me to pursue ideas.  Real Life TM Live & on location.  I've finished the patio, except the staining.  The camper is sitting on the left over rock and its all boardered with paver stones. There will be time later for arcade building I suppose.  I didn't follow the plans for my lowboy and it shows.  I use the computer for surfing. My workspace is not organized and I haven't been efficient in the past, so I'm going to work on that first.

When I do bring a finished arcade project to the forum, it'll probably be with my aftermarket jamma ms pacman. Or MAME Lowboy.  Or something different.  I'd like to see an N++ arcade cabinet.

Obligatory chuff.  I'm down 25lbs since last winter/ this spring and I've started to go to the gym.  I have 4 bags of clothes that don't fit and only 1 or 2 pairs of jeans and 3 pairs of slacks that do fit.

/edit

Retail Denim ~$~ Sheet of plywood or MDF.  I'm just having to choose my power per $ for awhile.  We aren't even talking about tools yet.

Good for you Eric.  I used to work out but I discovered being lazy was much more rewarding.  If you ever need a good cd to jam out to while working out I would recommend the selection below.

Pretty sure I posted a pic, but yeah, it's almost exactly like that.  I just used plywood for the clamping block instead of steel.

Wednesday, for reasons unknown, is cheap chicken day in Houston.  This is what $15 buys you:

Today I had to go back into the belly of the beast (Texas Medical Center) for a meeting and decided to find a conference to crash.

Four course lunch ensued....

Act like you know, folks.  And always be carrying something.

I'll use this as my introduction post as it's my first.

We sold our townhouse and bought a house with an unfinished basement.  That means work on planning a mancave playroom can begin, which also means I have started thinking about a MAME cabinet.  Just joined the board and doing some prelim research for now but think I will tackle the project over the winter since in Calgary there are enough cold days to hunker down on inside projects.

I'm thinking of a stand-up cabinet with 27" LED monitor and CP with 2 joysticks and 6 buttons plus a trackball and a few admin buttons.  Since this will be my first and hopefully not last build I figured I'd start fairly basic.  Next cab might be 32" with 4 player controls but we'll see how this first one goes.  I have access to my fathers workshop that has all the woodworking tools I would need so it'll make a good project for us to work on.

Anyways rest of my summer shall be packing and moving and planning the mancave playroom.

That was literally a marketing term made up by a company that milks men going through a mid-life crisis of all their money in exchange for road signs and car parts to hang on their wall.

We aren't cave men, it's not a man cave.  You might as well call it what it really is... a play room.

It aggravates me because it's one of those terms where you know exactly what it means the first time you heard it, but it simultaneously seems stupid.  'Stay-cation' is on that same list.

Occasionally you'll hear a good one that exactly nails the right connotation, though.  'Tramp stamp' is the recent winner of that list.

I think I missed the bus on that one.  I never saw the draw of Pee-Wee.  I always thought the character was stupid.  I mean overly, dropped on his head as a baby, and chewed on lead paint chips stupid.

I just bought my home too and I've had to correct a few people on a number of occasions.  Man cave sounds immature. I prefer a more refined Game room / Home theater.

I thought it was just me.

I'm gonna have to come up with a name for my game room now.

Maybe I will call it "The Machine Shed" in honor of the arcade from my youth.

I don't get the big deal about mancave. You ladies don't have anything better about which to twist your panties?

Hell, at least men with mancaves have seized back some small portion of their homes for their own use.
