Thanks guys!!! I did notice it has almost 1000 shares on ZELDA Informers FB page....so it's kinda crazy.  It's just cool to see something Ive dreamt about as a kid being enjoyed by others. :)

Funny though, I probably should have made some of the changes you guys suggested before it went public....because I'm reading a lot about my "crooked" marquee in the comments section. Haha. Oh well.

Thanks again dudes! Glad to see this awesome and creative hobby is getting more attention. Even at KLOVs Grinkers this year, I've had hardcore purists talking about creating new and one off cabs for themselves....because let's face it....custom is cool too. :)

Cool this is getting recognition, I've seen it pop up in several places now including the Midwest Pinball and Arcade Collectors Facebook group. I've seen some of the criticisms about the marquee and how the game would make a terrible arcade game blah blah, those people are missing the point of this build imo. 90% of the commentary has been complimentary though which is good to see.

Judging by what some of the rare NES carts go for, Wyo I think you could sell this to a wealthy collector and maybe take a year or two off of work from the proceeds.  :D

---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, this isn't gonna turn into the Wired article about Kaneda's bedroom, where everyone and their uncle forwards/shares it with you because you like them video games.

At least this time I don't have to tell people the builder is an ---uvula---. Wyo's one of the good guys.

haha, yeah.  At first I was kinda irritated with the 10% of those criticisms.....but then it was just the same things over and over (ZELDA would make a terrible arcade game, standing would suck,  :blah:)  and some kinda dumb comments like,"why does it have two coin slots?"..,or "he used the wrong princess ZELDA" (huh?)....or "the triangle speaker grill ruins it"  and then after awhile I just like, these guys are missing the point.   My favorite was, "nintendo would have never made this" DUH!?! Lol.

Anyways, I've realized at the end of the day....LOZ is like, the number one Nintendo game of all time.  That's why this build has recieved the attention.  The build is cool, but it's the game people love.  And those people, all have different experiences with that game....which will form their opinion of it.  It's great to see the overwhelming reaction....and I hope we see more builds like it. I Like the attention this hobby has recieved.

As far as selling it for double digits....well, I don't know about that. Haha. I'd hate to give away 18 months of my life....especially for a low amount, then have it resold for twice..or more. I've had that happen before in the past and it sucks!

Personally I wouldn't have posted high quality pictures of the project before finishing the last touches, but that's just me I guess. I don't have that Chance/Kaneda level of vanity.

I should have used a Polaroid. Haha.  It's not like they are water marked with my real name and contact info...all anybody knows is some anonymous internet dude named "fan" or "wyo" made it. ;)

As far as finishing. It just needs the side art....which more than likely won't happen til next spring.  I'm burned out on this project.  I'm more than likely gonna leave the marquee alone....it's grown on me.

Anyways, all good.  I'm ready to put my time and money into another project.

AWUK have posted it on their facebook to, Ime seeing it pop up everywhere atm HAHA

As you say its good to get some light on the hobby, And you can guarantee the people bitching about it are the ones who would never have been able to do what you have done and can not appreciate the time and effort you have put in or the shear beauty of it.

Just a shame they didnt jump on it after you had finished it LOL

A couple of super short videos I have of the cabinet on for those interested.  This was before I wired up the control panel and marquee light.  I'll try and do a better video when it's 100% finished.

Wyo this looks great. Been following your progress from the beginning.
The real arcade builders here will appreciate all the hard work, and thought behind this build.
Congrats and I can't wait for your next project.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the grave, but technically I'm not finished with this project yet.  I still have this cabinet....and I hope to finish and keep it.  I was pretty burned out on this project, but now that the snow has settled in Colorado....Theres plenty of down time to start up again and finish.

I finally straightened the marquee artwork, as was suggested by pretty much everybody.  Still haven't printed it yet, will do that with the sideart.

I also started drawing/modifying the artwork for the sideart.  Link will be preening with his triforce piece in the foreground, while Ganon pulls ZELDA into his lair. The pic of Link is from the Hyrule Historia book and is super tiny ...so I have to redraw it and vector it into illustrator as well to blow it up for the side art

I'm calling this one finished. Took another direction with the side art, and Im happy with how it turned out.  I spent so much time recreating this Link illustration when I first started this project (it's my favorite as well) and I really wanted to use it....so here is the final art package.  This project is done.

Looks absolutely amazing!  :applaud:

But the control panel is a bit off, I would have gone with something like this:
