Now that there is plenty of love I can chime in with my 50/50 comment (as if you really need to give whoop about my opinion)

The fit and finish look amazing, and the marquee is an awesome use of the available width to height proportions.
BUT... the width just looks awkward to me, it's the curse of the current widescreen-only monitor availability that is about rain down on us all.
The important thing is that it looks really well made and the shape is about as nice as you can get with a widescreen monitor, hell it may even be better than a 4:3 in many ways but with my preconceived notions about cabinet shape the future is going to take some getting used to.

Don't worry, you're not the only person who feels like that.

I give Sjaak credit, though,  for designing the cab around the screen.  I think the extra bezel space you see when widescreen monitors are used can really ruin the look of a cabinet.

I posted some build pics at the start of the topic.

I am home after 5:30 for delivery most days

Perfect, I probably can fit this in an overhead bin :D

Great looking cabinet as usual.  :applaud:  How do the light guns connect?

There are two usb connections on the front panel

it's the curse of the current widescreen-only monitor availability that is about rain down on us all.

I agreee, but sometimes customers want big screens and unfortunately 32" is limited to 16:9. But when I use 24" screens I go for 16:10 and for the more classic cabinets I use 19" or 20" 3:4 screens.

I would say the coin door looks a little bit out of proportion compared to the rest of the cab (I would choose pinball (wide) coin door instead), but that is just my opinion. Other than that - good job!

Agreed. Is it hard to get a pinball/wide coin door in Europe?

Nice work!  Although I think Randy T's Spectra Eclipse buttons would have taken this over the top.

Ugh! How many fricken Nintendo style cabs do you have in that room?!

...you know what, I don't want to know.  Just gonna sit here and remain jealous.

Great work on this by the way. Seriously. So much basic detail done well in your builds.

Masked and painted I'm guessing.

Quite possibly. Mine isn't, it's just a piece of tinted tempered glass and a black interior/display. Either way, the display just floats on an empty dark surface. It's a great effect

It's carbon wrap foil, the same stuff is used to wrap cars. It's much thinner than vinyl.

Well, since almost all of your builds include a monstrous overhang control panel, why not be consistent and also do a monitor overhang build?
That would keep the 4:3 ration in the cabinet

Thanks, I think I can work with that. :D

But this was a commisioned build (like most of the work I do), so not much room for improvisation. My own cabinets never include an overhanging panel.

WOW - have only just seen this

The fit and finish look amazing, and the marquee is an awesome use of the available width to height proportions.

Agree with the issue re look of cabs with wide screen monitors - is reason I don't like the look of Mass-Replicate cabs we've built (same issue though with supplying what customers want / expect vs what is aesthetically better)

.... but this cab is definitely an exception - I think the whole cab looks amazing  :notworthy:
