Paint or not to paint before cp artwork

I think I already know my answer but what are everyones feelings about painting your wood control panel before applying the artwork.  Ive heard its smart to do so and wondered who has done it and who hasnt and what their results have been.

Paint,  The adhesive will stick to it better,  Just make sure that the paint is fully cured before applying the art.

Coat it with talcum power, then lay the art down.

I was avoiding painting because I forgot to paint and I dont have anywhere warm to paint over the winter.  And you say talc powder works Yots?  How well?

Don't mean to hijack, but this got me thinking about whether or not paint would be necessary first on a metal panel...wood definitely needs paint before applying decals, but would metal need it do you think?

About as well as a lead balloon.  You know that the surface must be dust free right?  What's talc powder?

Derp.  I really did believe that and I knew better.  4:15 pm me is such an idiot.

I might have to paint it in the barn and bring it in to dry.

I don't paint metal. Just wash it with some acetone or other astringent.

Sorry, I meant to put the evil smiley there, then thought, "Naw, no one would believe that!"  >:D

Yeah, paint wood, metal is fine to leave raw as long as it's cleaned and dried really good.
