Thought I would ask here 1st.
Does anyone have a stripped down DK bezel image (vector ideal).
What I'm looking for is the bezel image, but all the character art removed.
The lines around the border and the circles in tact.

Thanks in advance

If you can work with AI files, you should be able to remove the parts you don't want from this one from the Vectorlib arcade vector graphics site.

Sadly I dont have Adobe Illustrator.
I simply use Photoshop to work with the files.

Sadly I dont have Adobe Illustrator.
I simply use Photoshop to work with the files.

Here you go : Used the one PL1 linked and moved all characters (the circles in the corners were part of the characters all as one piece so removed them but should be easy to add back using PS - (Just make your brush tool the color and size you want and press left mouse key to get correct size circle - repeat for other color circles from biggest to smallest) -- Saved as AI, PDF, and PNG just in case. All packed into the zip file attached Also attached an example of the png for viewing. NOTE : was done in Illustrator CS3 since I have a very old version of the program that I got (was donated along with some other computer equipment to a school I was helping setup a computer lab for and they were not gonna use it so I got to keep it - Though I haven't really learned to work in illustrator yet it does come in handy for this type of thing and maybe some day I'll have time to learn it !)

JD Fan when I do my build thread you get credit man! Thank you for all your help.
You've been an awesome help to me.........again many many thanks.
I'm getting a bartop kit from Rick @ GAMEROOM DESIGN CANADA.
Going with a Punch-Out theme obviously....... borrowing from the classic Nintendo games. I'm excited for the project.

Tonight when I get home I'm going to clean up and finish (I hope) the CPO.
I might make a few tweaks to it.
I'll use Vector Magic again and convert the rest of the flyers I downloaded.
I'll use the grey, green & white color scheme from the CPO to do the bezel.
Importing the character art then post for feedback.

Again huge thanks !

thats top notch work JDFan, Im at work, no access to illustrator, but I couldnt do it any better that that

Mike, if all you have is photoshop, you can still use the smart object tool in photoshop to use faux vectors. Its not nearly as easy as just using straight up illustrator, but it'll do in a pinch.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Glad to help when I can - since I'm waiting for parts to start mine I have a bit of free time right now.

Thanks - though since the ai file was setup with them as separate elements it didn't really take much work (Click - drag off screen - repeat)  :dunno

Problem I've found with using just PS is it doesn't seem to import the .ai as layers so you can remove pieces (unless it's just something I'm doing wrong)  :dizzy:

@ Malenko

Thank you for the info.
I'll seek out a tutorial. I think I need to widen my skill set in Photoshop.
And I'm thinking I really should get illustrator and learn.
I had it years ago and found it hard to use. But my PC skills have got better since
then.

Thank you all.

These files will be a huge help to me and my project. I'm looking forward to getting the samples up and getting feedback for all of you.

@ JD Fan in the other thread I actually posted my CPO mock up.

LOL! My lil one is only 9 months.....I'd feel bad "trying" to knock her out.
Actually, I think my anticipation to work on this project means by default she "WILL NOT" co-operate tonight.

Gotta Say NyQuil is the bomb it's the only thing I make sure to bring back with me when I am stateside.  As Denis Leary once ranted, (Forward to 2 minutes in) NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK.

I get the same result when I open AI files in Photoshop (CS5). The AI files are single layer files.

Yeah - it seems PS flattens the ai file when importing so you lose all of the individual elements and it brings it in as one element (same thing it does flattening the image layers when saving to JPG )

I was referring to making new layers ( in PSDs) not working with AI files specifically, sorry.

No problem - I thought you might be but was also wondering if there was a way to import the ai file intact rather than it being flattened to a single element - currently I just make a new ai file with the element I want and bring it in separately but seems a waste of time if there was a way to import intact directly.

What is the general cost estimate to get that DK bezel printed anyone have an idea?

Any way one of ya kind fellas could add those black and white circles back in without the characters? With the insides transparent?

If its not clear by my other posts in the artwork realm, I'm not really sure about the level of complexity involved.  I *understand* layers.  I can copy a something pixel perfect in Visio given the time because of work.  But I haven't had a PC at home fast enough.

I generally charge by the sq ft. + shipping. For a DK bezel, it would be around $32 + shipping.

Is this what you were wanting?
