Firstly this is just pure greatness well done to you this is well above my skill level , can I ask what size pipes you have used? I'm try to replicate part of your idea on a shelving unit

In some of the pics you can read the print on the pipes --- It shows they are 3" and he bought the cheaper ones as they are marked not for Pressure so are less expensive than those designed to hold high water pressure. (since there is no need for the more expensive stuff in this application ! )

PROTIP: To ensure that they fit together properly, use the same "schedule" pipe and fittings. ("SCH 40" in pic below)

The most common schedules for PVC pipe are 30 and 40.

How about making those wii wheels interchangeable with wii guns for a stationary shooter feel.

First, I saw the final result (reading backwards) and thought, "DAMN, that's some mighty fine CNC work." Imagine my surprise when I saw you did it all BY HAND. Oh my god, my damn brain nearly exploded. My OCD screamed, "you know, if YOU tried this, you'd hate every imperfection..."

Yours is some AMAZING work, sir. AMAZING WORK!

You know me, I love this build and your work LT, but are you planning to leave the wheel bracket as is? Honest critisisim: it just doesn't live up to the awesomeness that is the rest of the build.

Maybe if you used some black plastic knobs from the hardware isle at Home Depot and painted it like black (which your probably planing on anyways...)  :dunno

I dunno, you can't even SEE the bracket unless you're looking up at it... but I agree with simply hitting it with black paint.

+1. Surely there's some alternate method of securely attaching those wheel brackets? The wingnuts are pretty jarring, and like Chance hinted, I think it detracts from all the great stuff you've got going on.

The company to look at is Dimco Gray.

Their website makes it easy to narrow down knob styles and search for specific thread sizes.

Plug the desired part number into Amazon FTW.

Perhaps a coat or 2 of Plasti Dip rather than spray paint on the brackets.

Ok, this is bugging me... Where the ---fudgesicle--- do you always get these answers?! What do you do for a living?!? And for Science sake don't say "I sold TV's at bestbuy."

Perhaps a coat or 2 of Plasti Dip rather than spray paint on the brackets.

Good call! Dipping them would be better. A simple do with a couple black knobs. That's a win for sure.

I believe it was Peanut the Woozle As Darwin the Monkey said, "I read. . . . I read . . ." ( skip to 3:19)
http://youtu.be/TPU2aXdCPQU?t=3m19s

Seriously, though, it helps to grow up immersed in music (listening and playing), art, science (theoretical and applied), math, computers (text-adventure games and basic programming in addition to the usual assortment of games), etc. with a wonderful family full of educators and mechanical/component-level-electronics tinkerers.

Add to that:
1. A metric butt-load of bookmarked vendors/products/calculators gathered over years of reading/planning
2. A talent for determining keywords for effective searches
3, Knowing how to quote/paraphrase peoople who are smarter/more knowledgable on a topic (THE most important skill  :lol)

As to why I knew about Dimco Gray, look at the third item under "Amazon" here -- also my portable-modular build will use a few of their knobs for the lockdown bar.

What do you do for a living?!? And for Science sake don't say "I sold TV's at bestbuy."
Nobody's figured that out yet and I don't want to ruin the betting pool.  (there was one guess that came somewhat close)  ;D

If it makes you feel better, I am not now -- nor have I ever been -- an employee of Best Buy.

It's a bot.  :droid

:dunno Plastidip and paint pretty much give the same result visually and the T-screws I've got work just as well as knobs would. You'd have to be on the floor looking up at them to notice and you can't even see that low from a sitting position. Besides, 99% of the time the cab will look like this.

And when it's painted black, those holes will blend. It seems silly to spend more time and money on this part when it's going to look weird as ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- anyway because the Wii stuff is white and nothing else on this build is.   :lol

It'll just be a fun add-on when the urge hits.
You can actually buy spray plastidip. I used it on another project it works good. I actually painted over the plastic dip to make it match

I wonder if one could paint the low areas first, then mask them with something like this, this, or maybe even just a bead of caulk before painting the raised areas.   :dunno

I would almost say to paint the cracks then paint the bricks with either a light roller or a dry brush style.

Perhaps use an actual tile grout after painting the tiles\bricks and wipe off the excess just like tiling.

Seems like the routed areas wouldn't be deep enough to provide solid grout -- one good bump and it would probably shatter.
