 >:D

Just had to do it.

Doing a Tall bartop buld for the ultimate Dallas Cowboy Fan.  This guys is unreal, he has every authentic relic you can think of, Tom Landry's Fedora, Staubach and Aikmans actual dress locker, all 5 Super bowl rings, the end zone turf form both ends of the old stadium, the list goes on.

He's actually building a 1000 sq ft. museum to showcase all of his relics, inside his house.  He also has his own logo trademarked.

Using 3/4 melamine with and MDF core, this stuff sucks to work with. If you do work with it do not lay it on the edges, chips very easy.

Here's the art work.

Using a blue gloss vinyl for the exposed panels, and painted the speaker plates with what was supposed to be chrome, it came out metallic silver....never use that crap.  Still came out decent.

In the assembly phase now, will post more later....

Does he have the ball that Romo fumbled away in that playoff game against Seattle? That would be an awesome relic.

Looks good, bro. If anyone can make crappy Arlington artwork look good, I know you can.

At least the dude can relax this week. It's a bye, so there's no way Romo can ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- the bed this Sunday.

Romo jokes are played out.  We're stuck with him until he or Jerry Jones dies.

I was in in a bowling alley full of Cowboys fans watching the game a few years back when he got hurt.  The place erupted in cheers when the commentators announced it was a season ending injury.  Shame they didn't finish the job.

I thought Romo was a pro golfer?  (You should have called out Hoopz.  He talks NFL smack better than me)

If I look past the pathetic theme your artwork is off the hook.  Very nice.   :applaud:

My brother-in-law is a huge Arlington fan, and it kills him when I remind him that my Cardinals have been in more Super Bowls THIS century than his team.

All sports fans are masochists.  Your team has a 100% chance of losing more than it wins.  Just enjoy the ride.

This was actually a good Football weekend for me. The Cardinals won, the 49ers lost, the Cowboys got knocked out of first place (without even playing a game, at that), my alma mater (Arizona State) won, and our intra-state rival lost (University of Arizona). I'm enjoying the ride.

Aggies and Cowboys had a bye week, so I didn't have to watch Romo throw interceptions or listen to SEC announcers continually disparage Texas A&M and have a contest to see who can say "Manziel" the most.

Got it all put together and skinned.

Wiring Sucks......

Got it done though

While we are at it let's add some remote control power on and off to it....

Masked off the plexi and painted on the Bezel

Built, laminated skinned the CP

Pulled out the old plexi bending machine....

Oh no he didnt..... :afro:

This is where it gets ignant...

That's all for now.....Wiring up the CP next....

I have zero interest in any sport other than MMA, but, your CP falls into one of the top 5 coolest CP's I have ever seen. I love the art, I love the plexi overlay, I love the button inserts, I love....whoops, little too much love going on. But seriously, Cowboys fans everywhere are drooling.

Has your buddy seen any of the cab yet, or is it going to be a surprise when it is finished? Cause if it is a surprise, stand behind him in case he faints  :laugh2:

I'm surprised he went with a mini. Knowing Texans/Cowboy fans, I figured he'd want one twice the normal size.

From a craftsmanship standpoint, good job. How much input did you have in the aesthetics/design area?

The only thing I don't care for (besides the theme  >:D ) is the repetition of the "Cowboys Shrine" logo 15 times on the machine, especially on the buttons. Nice job there on the whole.

I showed him a few shots but not the finished CP.  He's having back surgery, so when he see it he will be high, so i'm not expecting to much of a hurrah on the unveiling.

I'm surprised he went with a mini. Knowing Texans/Cowboy fans, I figured he'd want one twice the normal size.

From a craftsmanship standpoint, good job. How much input did you have in the aesthetics/design area?

LOL, this is just as you said, the mini, I'm building a full size for him too for next year.  This one was just to take the edge off until the beast arrives.

The actual frame design is mine, just a bartop extended.  I basically just tossed some ideas together and he blessed them, he wanted it unique, with heavy bling, and thick with the Shrine logo, hence the 15 times you pointed out.

He wanted minimal black on the thing, but i refused to try and paint the coin door, for chipping and possibly looking like crap.  So I had to go and find white melamine, and paint the darn marquee holders gray.  The more i thought about i should of painted the bezel gray, but oh well.  I was also thinking about having the printer print a bezel overlay, but figured it would get too busy.

The football field, i fell into, the CP looked boring so i threw some things in Photoshop, and he really liked the field.  Due to the resolution, I have to redo all hash marks, and the numbers to make em sharp, added a new field logo and redid the endzones.  Now that it's put together, it really look like 2 teams on a football field, that was unexpected.

So it was a dual effort, i gave rough ideas and he fine tuned based on what looked good to him.

Wow, dude, I love it.  Very clean.

Coming from you man, i fee like i've actually built something damn good.   :)

I like it!! Very oldschool and clean at the same time. I would love to play Tecmo bowl on that..

Thanks Vigo....appreciate the comments.

The only thing I don't care for (besides the theme  >:D ) is the repetition of the "Cowboys Shrine" logo 15 times on the machine, especially on the buttons. Nice job there on the whole.

I agree bro, i actually removed a few extras, to get it where it is now.  The buttons are subtle, and will be lit, so you won't pay too much attention to the shrine logo.  If you saw this guys pad you would see why its heavy in the shrine logo.

He had a slot machine built, and had the guy redo the reels, in dallas cowboy players and cheerleaders and stars.  He's also building a pinball machine, and giving that guy hell with the design.

Regardless of the theme fellas, i have to say this thing is pretty darn sharp, and i haven't even pulled the coating off the graphics and the chrome t-molding yet.  Hell I'm getting anxious to see it all lit up and uncovered.

Thanks for all the comments, you guys see anything that could be modified or changed for the better, please speak up....I have a Nov 26th deadline

Shouldn't the marquee hang down over the control panel and get in the way occassionally?

Nice clean build.  Thanks for sharing.

Anybody understand this question?  :dunno

Please don't say your referring to the clamps that are temporarily hold the marquee up.

oooooohhhh, gotcha, folks tossing in hidden jokes....

more confirmation i have no intellect on all this football talk.....

However i did go see one game, it doesnt get in the way.  You just spend the whole time looking at the screen.  That prompted me to say never again, i can watch at home for free.

Plus Cowboy fans are hostile when they lose, they are ready to whoop some a**.....

They also go home and drink Hamm's and watch their Sports Illustrated "America's Team" VHS from 1993 to feel better about themselves.

God, I lived in that city when they had the "Super Bowl Riots" that consisted of some woman getting popped and her boyfriend taking pictures of her with his 110mm camera while she was yelling, "stop taking pictures and call 911!!"

Probably saw that clip, oh, 500 times in the two days after the parade.

That looks fantastic.  I'm especially impressed with how well you centered the buttons on the artwork.   :applaud:

Shouldn't the marquee hang down over the control panel and get in the way occassionally?

Thanks man.....

The guide lines in photoshop are a saviour.  I just print out a black and white version with a crosshair layer, and use that and pointed object to mark the center of the drill holes.  The color version is an exact duplicate, so everything lines up pretty good.

Also, i need you to get on it man the tron thread is due for an update... :applaud:

Take those LEDs out, slap a fluorescent light fixture in the control panel, done.  Unless you're getting a service call fee every time a light burns out.   ;D

Romo's currently in his yearly "just good enough to keep him around" phase, so rattle that tip cup while the getting is good.
