OK, so I have been hitting the thrift/resale stores hard lately (been really nostalgic for the 32-bit era recently) and the ol game collection is expanding... to the point that I have accidentally re-bought stuff a couple of times.  ;D Any suggestions on software or websites to keep track of stuff?
Completed projects: Pac bartop (Plug & Play), 30th Anniversary Pac cab (MAME), Point Blank (PS1), Centipede (arcade hardware- light restore), VS. Super Mario Bros (arcade hardware- light restore) Tetris Cocktail (SNES), Arcade Classics upright (60-in-1, then MAME), Multi-Raiden (arcade hardware). Pac Man vs.(Gamecube),

Working on: Pinball Re-theme, Homebrew arcade arena shooter

I've used the movie version. Program works great.
I need a house to put stuff in, instead of an apartment with stacks of boxes.

Cool, thanks. Will check it out. Tried one called GCStar but it seemed a little wonky (wouldn't fetch info from the web).

It seemed OK when I looked at it.

I've been using RFGeneration's tools and it seems pretty useful (my page for example: http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/collection.pl?action=profile&name=DaveMMR&folder=Collection) and you can export it to a CSV file.

Thanks, looks like some good options. Will keep doing my research... nice collection DaveMMR, those are some nice boxed NES carts.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

I find this normally does the trick

 ;D

Do you have any web pages of your own? I've used this guys online databasey thingo script. Make a web page, and if you have a smart phone (I don't, which is why I say IF) then you can check on your collection anytime you are picking through sales...

I just typed up a text file.  I like using my own format so I can order things in a certain way, and include extra info like, when the save battery was last replaced, region, if it's a repro, burned rom-chips, etc.

I save my lists as notes in my email, so I can get to them from anywhere.

I have a list of games I own, as well as games to get.  Both lists are too long...

I rolled my own website to store a list of my games:
http://fredgolden.com/games

I used the Giantbomb.com API to pull info about games which saves a ton of typing and I used some javascript called Content flow to make the thumbnails horizontally scroll smoothly just like Coverflow does in that horrible iTunes program, or how the Cooliris plugin does for web browsers.
