If it weren't for Jim, I wouldn't be selling encoders here. I do have to say that as a solid contribution of his. The guy did have plenty insight on pinball, too. But honestly, I think a lot of his help was simply in his wise ass comments. It might have scared a few people, but I can recall a number of times where he was blunt enough that people decided to take a cheaper or easier route. And after he made his point, he usually would shut up about it.

IMO, it is probably worth trying to restore his pinball board posts and let the rest sink to oblivion if that is a possibility. Most his other help was situational anyway. I'll be fine keeping his semi-offensive yet humorous comments as a memory.
